'100MB' a new own app launched by Sachin Tendulkar :

Former cricketer Sachin Tendulkar launched his own app titled '100MB' in Mumbai on Thursday. Sachin posted a video on Twitter introducing the app, which aggregates personalised cricket content besides having a live stream option connecting the cricketer with his followers. The app, available both on Android and Apple devices, also includes a networking platform for fans.
Rs.10,000 crore to be spent by Railways on track renewal :

The Railways will spend over ₹10,000 crore on the renewal of tracks and adopt the latest technology to detect rail fracture, Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu said on Thursday. He said train accidents in India have reduced according to a global index, adding, "It does not mean I am happy with this. We would like to work towards zero accident."

Hyderabad becomes 1st city in country with 1Gbps wired broadband service :

India's third largest Internet Service Provider ACT Fibernet on Thursday announced the launch of 1 Gbps wired broadband internet service for Hyderabad, making it the first Indian city to offer such a service. "Giga speeds will allow downloads from the internet faster than transferring data from a USB drive," said ACT Fibernet CEO Bala Malladi.
Interest rate on small savings deposits reduced by 0.1% : Govt

The government today lowered the interest rates on small savings deposits, including PPF, by 0.1% effective April 1. This brings the interest rate on PPF down to 7.9%. The interest rates cut also affects savings in government schemes namely National Savings Certificate, Sukanya Samriddhi Account Scheme and Kisan Vikas Patra among others.
Meeting held between Indian Army chief Rawat and Nepal PM Prachanda :

Indian Army Chief General Bipin Rawat called on Nepal's Prime Minister Prachanda yesterday. They discussed bilateral relations, including collaboration between armies of the two countries. General Rawat met Prachanda at his official residence in Baluwatar in Kathmandu and expressed happiness over the ongoing collaboration between Nepal Army and Indian Army, said a source at the Prime Minister's residence.
Rawat appreciated Nepal's peace process and said the international community can learn lessons from Nepal's experience. Rawat, who is on a four-day visit to the Himalayan country, was conferred the title of honourary general of the Nepal Army by Nepalese President Bidya Devi Bhandari on Wednesday.

Residential facility for child cancer patients inaugurated today in Mumbai :
Union Shipping Minister, Mr Nitin Gadkari inaugurated a residential facility for child cancer patients in Mumbai on Thursday. This Child Care Centre for patients of Tata Memorial Hospital has been developed by Mumbai Port Trust as part of its corporate social responsibility. The 1.2 acre facility, located in Cotton Green area will provide a free of cost; clean and cheerful shelter to children suffering from cancer.

Proposal made by govt to open more Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojna Kendra in country :
The government proposes to open more Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojna-PMBJP Kendra in the country including tribal areas. At present, 1014 such Kendras are functioning in the country.
Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers Anant Kumar in a written reply in the Lok Sabha said the government has recently amended the guidelines to provide that MPBJP kendras may be opened by state governments or government agencies in any government building premises owned by government bodies.

'Namami Brahmaputra' festival celebrated toady in Assam :
The biggest river festival of India, Namami Brahmaputra, begins in 21 districts of Assam today. President Pranab Mukherjee will inaugurate the festival on the banks of the river, which is considered country's only male river.
Prime Minister of Bhutan, Governor of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh and Chief Ministers will also attend the inaugural ceremony. Various cultural programmes, traditional sports, Brahmaputra Aarti, exhibition, film shows, seminars and competitions will be the part of the 5 day festival. Spiritual leader Dalai Lama and several Union ministers will also attend the festival. AIR correspondent reports that Guwahati city has got a new look for the festival. Big banners and hoardings have been put up across the city welcoming all to the event.

Animal Preservation Bill passed in Gujarat Assembly :
Gujarat Assembly today passed the Gujarat Animal Preservation (Amendment) Bill, 2017 unopposed in absence of opposition members. This bill has more stringent provision against the Cow slaughtering and cow transportation for slaughtering. According to the provisions of this bill, the Cow transportation will be possible only with permit issued by Government authority.
Transportation during night hours will not allowed even with permit. Only 7 officials are notified for issuance of permit contrary to 25 earlier. Minimum 10- year imprisonment to life term jail punishment for those proven guilty of slaughtering cow.

Uma Bharti leads special cleanliness drive in Uttarkashi  :
Union Minister Uma Bharti led a special cleanliness drive conducted by district-level officers at the Kedarghat, Manikarnika and Jad Bharat ghat in Uttarkashi yesterday. Union Minister for Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation Uma Bharti said the cleanliness fortnight was launched to maintain purity of the Ganga river.
Asserting on people's participation for keeping Ganga clean, she said the works for cleaning of the river is being carried out swiftly. Bharti said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has released a budget of Rs 1,000 crore for Namami Gange project.

3 day annual meeting of New Development Bank begins in New Delhi :
The three Day annual meeting of the New Development Bank, NDB, began in national capital today with a focus on building a sustainable future. Tomorrow, BRICS Business Council will meet followed by the Opening Ceremony of the meeting of the NDB Board of Governors’.

Kanha Tiger Reserve turns into first in India get official mascot :
Kanha Tiger Reserve in the last week of Macrh 2017 became the first tiger reserve in India to officially introduce a mascot, named Bhoorsingh the Barasingha. The step was taken to present the hard ground swamp deer as the spirit of the reserve. It will also spread awareness to save the species from possible extinction. Barasingha (swamp deer) is the state animal of Madhya Pradesh. The Kanha tiger reserve is the only place in the world where the species exists.

Malaysian PM Najib Razak arrives in Chennai, begins six day India tour
Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak arrived Chennai yesterday on the first leg of his six day official tour to India. The visiting Prime Minister is accompanied by his wife and a high ranking delegation including Foreign Minister Anifa Aman. He was given a warm reception at the Raj Bhavan by Tamil Nadu Governor Vidyasagar Rao and Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswamy.
Prime Minister Najib is scheduled to attend a business meeting organised by Malaysian Associated Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and interact with the Malaysian community as well as students today. He is also expected to perform Friday prayers at the Anjuman mosque before leaving for New Delhi.

Bank of Maharashtra loses ₹25 crore due to UPI bug :
In one of the biggest Unified Payments Interface (UPI) frauds till date, state-run Bank of Maharashtra lost ₹25 crore after a few people moved money illegally exploiting a bug in government's UPI app. The bug allowed people to send money without having the necessary funds in their accounts. As many as 44 banks are registered on UPI's platform.

Payment systems to remain closed on April 1: RBI
The Reserve Bank of India has issued a notification announcing that payment systems will remain closed on April 1. This comes after an earlier directive asking banks to remain open on April 1, the first day of the next fiscal. While debit and credit card transactions will not be affected, electronic fund transfers using RTGS and NEFT will remain closed.

RBI restricts banking ops of Kapol Co-operative bank
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) today barred depositors of the Kapol Co-operative Bank, Mumbai, from withdrawing more than Rs 3000 from their savings and current bank accounts.
While placing the Kapol bank under directions, the RBI said the troubled co-operative bank will also not be able to grant or renew any loans or advances without prior approval in writing from the Reserve Bank. It said the bank will also not be able to make any investment, incur any liability including borrowal of funds and accept fresh deposits without RBIs approval.

First recycled rocket launched by SpaceX, in historic leap :
SpaceX has launched its first recycled rocket, the biggest leap yet in its bid to drive down costs and speed up flights. The Falcon 9 blasted off from Florida's Kennedy Space Center yesterday, hoisting a broadcasting satellite into the early evening clear sky on the historic rocket reflight. It was the first time SpaceX founder Elon Musk tried to fly a booster that soared before on an orbital mission.

Loan agreement signed between India and NDB for development of roads project in Madhya Pradesh :
India on 30 March 2017 signed loan agreement with the New Development Bank (NDB) of USD 350 million for development and upgradation of major district roads project in Madhya Pradesh. The loan agreement was signed by Raj Kumar, Joint Secretary in the Department of Economic Affairs (DEA) and Xian Zhu, Vice President & Chief Operating Officer of the New Development Bank. 
While, the project agreement was signed by Pramod Agrawal, Principal Secretary of Public Works Department and Manish Rastogi, Managing Director of Madhya Pradesh Road Development Corporation (MPRDC).  This is the first loan agreement for NDB assisted project in India.

Virat Kohli receives Padma Shri at Rashtrapati Bhavan :
Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli was conferred with the Padma Shri Award by President Pranab Mukherjee at a ceremony at the Rashtrapati Bhavan on Thursday. "What an absolute honor and a memorable day to receive the Padma Shri award from the President of India. God's been kind. Jai Hind," the 28-year-old tweeted.
Indian Hockey player SV Sunil receives Player of the Year in Asian Hockey Awards :
Indian forward S V Sunil on 30 March 2017 was named the Asian Player of the Year 2016 by the Asian Hockey Federation (AHF). On the other hand, drag-flicker Harmanpreet Singh was named the Asian Promising Player of the Year.
Sunil played a vital role in India's successful outing at the FIH Champions Trophy in London where the team grabbed a silver medal. While Harmanpreet won the award in the junior men's category, Sunil has been honoured in the senior men's section.

BCCI to felicitate Indian cricket's 'Fab Five' at IPL opening ceremony :
The IPL Governing Council today decided to felicitate five legends -- Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman and Virender Sehwag, during the opening ceremony of cash-rich league. The ceremony is slated to be held in Hyderabad on April 5.
IPL chairman Rajeev Shukla told reporters after the completion of IPL GC meet that the decision was taken at the Governing Council meeting today. Out of the five, four are former India captains.
ICC to bid for inclusion of cricket in 2024 Olympics :

International Cricket Council (ICC) CEO Dave Richardson on Thursday said that ICC will submit an application this year for including cricket in the 2024 Olympics. Richardson revealed that Twenty20 tournament between six to eight teams will be the most likely format for the Olympics. Notably, cricket last appeared at the Olympics in 1900 with only two teams participating.
