UP sets record of highest number of women MLAs winning in election :
The Uttar Pradesh legislative assembly is set to have 38 women MLAs, the highest number for the state since Independence. Political parties fielded 96 female candidates in total, with BJP fielding the highest at 43. Thirty-two female candidates from BJP won, while two each from BSP and Congress, and one each from Apna Dal and the Samajwadi Party were elected.

Assam govt hopes on achieving target of Indian Rhino Vision 2020 :
The Assam government is hopeful of achieving the target of Indian Rhino Vision 2020. As per Indian Rhino Vision, a target has been set to increase the number of rhino population to 3,000.
State Forest Minister Pramila Rani Brahma said, a fresh rhino census at Kaziranga national park will be held next year. Ms Brahma said, 28 rhinos have been translocated to Manas national park from Kaziranga and they gave birth of 14 rhinos. She said, to enhance security at Kaziranga, unmanned aerial vehicle will be used soon. Kaziranga is home to the highest number of one horn rhinos in the world.

MoU signed between Sashastra Seema Bal with NSDC & NSDF on skill development :
The Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and the National Skill Development Fund (NSDF) for execution of skill development programmes.
The MoU was signed on 10 March 2017 in the presence of Union Minister of State for Skill
Development and Entrepreneurship Rajiv Pratap Rudy and Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju in New Delhi. During the event, Kiren Rijiju launched an an android based and in-house developed mobile application “MySSB”.

Congress leader Captain Amarinder Singh will take oath as the Chief Minister of Punjab on March 16, after he led his party to victory in the Punjab elections, winning 77 of 117 seats. Stating that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had talked to him after the election results, Singh said PM Modi promised to help him with the state.

Manohar Parrikar to take charge as new Chief Minister of Goa :
Goa Governor Mridula Sinha today appointed Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar as the Chief Minister of Goa. Parrikar has been asked to prove majority within 15 days after taking oath with the swearing in ceremony likely to be held on Tuesday. Notably, BJP was the second largest party behind Congress in a fractured mandate in the Goa assembly elections.

Holi festival of colours celebrated across India :
The festival of colours Holi is being celebrated today and the festival signifies the victory of good over evil and the arrival of spring. President Pranab Mukherjee, Vice President Hamid Ansari and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have greeted the people on the occasion. In his message, the President said, Holi celebrates spring and is a harbinger of hope and fulfillment in lives.
He hoped that this festival strengthens brotherhood and harmony amongst all people. Mr Mukherjee said, happiness should also be shared with the needy and downtrodden on this day.

Pakistan planned to survey national census :
In Pakistan, national census will be conducted in 19 years from Wednesday with the assistance of over 2 lakh troops.
Addressing a joint News Conference in Islamabad, Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb said, the census will be conducted in two phases and will be completed on 25th May this year. At least one soldier will accompany each civilian enumerator going from house to house to enlist the number of households and individuals living there.
Islamabad last conducted a census in 1998, which recorded a national population of approximately 180 million at that time.

Military exercises between South Korea and US to begin :
South Korea and the United States will begin annual Key Resolve military exercises today amid high tensions on the peninsula prompted by the recent North Korea missile tests.
Yonhap news agency reported that the computer-simulated command post exercise will be held until March 24th.

Africa gets own domain name 32 yrs after world's 1st domain :
Africa has got its own domain name '.africa' for the continent 32 years after the world's first domain name was registered. The domain name '.africa' will be used to reflect a company's interest in the whole of Africa. According to the World Bank, sub-Saharan Africa has one of the lowest rates of internet penetration in the world.

RBI lifts bank withdrawal limit on savings accounts from today :
The Reserve Bank of India has removed the cash withdrawal limits for the savings bank accounts starting today. The limit was increased to ₹50,000 per week from February 20. The RBI had ended cash withdrawal limits for current account holders from February 1. The limits on bank withdrawals were placed after the demonetisation of old ₹500 and ₹1,000 notes.

Free incoming calls on domestic roaming offered by Idea Cellular :
Telecom operator, Idea Cellular today announced free incoming calls for both Pre-paid and Post-paid customers on domestic roaming. The company, in its press release, said that from April 1 onwards, Idea's 200 million customers will enjoy free incoming calls while roaming on company's 2G, 3G and 4G network across 400,000 towns and villages in the country.
Idea customers will be able to make outgoing calls and SMS freely at affordable rates while roaming anywhere in India. It further said mobile data tariffs and data pack benefits of home circle will be available while roaming within India at no extra charge.

APPOINTMENTS:
Manohar Parrikar, after being appointed the new Chief Minister of Goa by the state's Governor, today announced that he has resigned as the Defence Minister and has sent his resignation to the Prime Minister's Office. Parrikar, who submitted the evidence of support of 21 MLAs, will take his oath as Goa Chief Minister on Tuesday.
A day after Manipur threw up a hung verdict, state CM Okram Ibobi Singh on Sunday was elected as the leader of Congress legislature party. Ibobi has defeated activist Irom Sharmila from the Thoubal Assembly seat. He has been heading the Congress government in Manipur for the past 15 years. Congress has won 28 seats in Manipur.

BJP senior party leader appointed as observers for selecting new legislature party leaders in states :
BJP Parliamentary Board has appointed senior party leader and Information and Broadcasting Minister Venkaiah Naidu and party General Secretary Bhupendra Yadav as central observers for the election of new legislature party leader in Uttar Pradesh.
Union Minister Narendra Tomar and party leader Saroj Pandey will be the observers for Uttarakhand while Union Minister Piyush Goyal and party leader Vinay Sahasrabuddhe will be the observers for Manipur. Union Minister Nitin Gandkari will be the observer in Goa.
Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has been given the additional charge of the Defence Ministry after President Pranab Mukherjee accepted Manohar Parrikar's resignation. Parrikar resigned as the Defence Minister to head the BJP-led alliance in Goa as the Chief Minister. Notably, Jaitley had headed the Defence Ministry from May 2014 to November 2014 before Parrikar was appointed to the post.

Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan has become the youngest to be awarded 'Man of the Series' in T20Is, winning the award in the three-match T20I series against Ireland which concluded on Sunday. The 18-year-old, who claimed nine wickets in the series, took the fastest ever five-wicket haul in international cricket during the second T20I, after bowling only two overs.
Golfer Shiv Chawrasia on Sunday became only the second Indian golfer and the third golfer overall to successfully defend his Indian Open title. Chawrasia clinched the title with a seven-stroke win at the DLF golf club in Gurgaon. The title, which is Chawrasia's overall sixth international victory, will earn the golfer almost ₹2 crore as prize money.
Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia has lifted the Men's Singles crown at the All England Open badminton championships. In the final in Birmingham today, the 34-year-old world number one defeated Shi Yuqi of China in straight games 21-12,
21-10. For the Malaysian, it is his fifth Singles Title in seven finals in the prestigeous championships.
Earlier, the Chinese pair of Lu Kai and Huang Yaqiong won the Mixed Doubles title by defeating the Malaysian duo of Peng Soon Chan and Liu Ying Goah in the final in three games, 18-21, 21-19, 21-16. The well contested match lasted One hour and twentysix minues.
