➤National Conference on Jal Kranti Abhiyan to be held
i. Water Resources Minister Uma Bharti organised a national conference on Jal Kranti Abhiyan on 7th March 2017 in New Delhi .
ii. Ministry of Water Resources and River Development had launched Jal Kranti Abhiyan on June, 2015 to consolidate water conservation and management in the country through a holistic and integrated approach involving all stakeholders.
➤Tribal festival 'Bhagoria' begins in MP
i. Bhagoria Festival, also known as Bhagoria Haat Festival, celebrated by the tribal people of the Indian state Madhya Pradesh begun on March 6, 2017 in Jhabua district.
ii. The festival which has been organized at 34 places in the state is celebrated in the month of March before the Holi Festival by the local tribes called Bhils and Bhilalas.
➤M P Veerendra Kumar presented Moortidevi award
i. Eminent Malayalam author and journalist M P Veerendra Kumar presented the 30th Moortidevi award by Bharatiya Jnanpith organization.
ii. Mr. Kumar was chosen for the prestigious award for his Malayalam travelogue 'Hymavathabhoovil', which dwells upon ancient trails of Indian culture, myth, literature, and people strewn in the plains, valleys, and mountains of India.
➤Vaikom Vijayalakshmi becomes first to play Gayathri veena for record five hours
i. Kerala’s playback singer Vaikom Vijayalakshmi created a new world record by playing the maximum number of songs in the shortest time (5 hrs) on Gayathri veena during a program in Kochi.
ii. She played a total of 69 songs including various classical and filmy songs on the Gayathri veena became the first person to achieve the feat in the world.

i. Unseeded American Sam Querrey has won the ATP Mexico Open hardcourt tennis tournament.
ii. Men’s singles: Sam Querrey (United States) defeats Rafael Nadal (Spain)
iii. Women’s singles: Lesia Tsurenko (Ukraine) defeats Kristina Mladenovic (France)
iv. Men’s Doubles: Jamie Murray (Brazil) / Bruno Soares (United Kingdom) defeats John Isner (Spain) / Feliciano López (United States)
v. Women’s Doubles: Darija Jurak (Croatia) / Anastasia Rodionova (Australia) defeats Verónica Cepede Royg (Paraguay) / Mariana Duque Mariño (Colombia)
➤OPPO wins Indian cricket team sponsorship rights for five years
i. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced that mobile manufacturing company Oppo Mobiles India Private Limited will be the new team sponsor of the Indian cricket team from April 1, 2017 for a period of five years.
ii. It has replaced Star India.
