February 1, 2017

Read Type 1 and Type 2 in Concepts of Inequality Part 1

TYPE-3

Let’s first see the basic structure of these types of questions.

In the following questions, the symbols @, #, $, * and % are used as illustrated below:
‘P @ Q’ means ‘P is not smaller than Q’
‘P # Q’ means ‘P is neither greater than nor equal to Q’
‘P $ Q’ means ‘P is neither smaller than nor greater than Q’
‘P * Q’ means ‘P is not greater than Q’‘P % Q’ means ‘P is neither smaller than nor equal to Q’

Give answer
(1) if only Conclusion I is true.
(2) if only Conclusion II is true.
(3) if either Conclusion I or II is true.
(4) if neither Conclusion I nor II is true.
(5) if both Conclusions I and II is true.

Statements: N % A, A # L, F $ N
Conclusions:

 I. L % F
II. F % A

HOW TO SOLVE THESE TYPES OF QUESTIONS?

First of all on a separate place write down the meaning of the symbols. For e.g. in the above question:
Similarly write down the equation as per the meaning of the symbols. For e.g.
Statement: F = N > A < L
Conclusions:
 I. L > F
 II. F > A

Now follow the basic rules that we follow in the simple questions. So in accordance with the rules we get Answer (2) i.e. only Conclusion II is true.
I hope u have so far understood the concept and now let’s practice together.

1. (4) only either I or III is true
2. (3) only I and II are true
3. (1) None is true

In the following questions, the symbols ©, #, @, £, and $ are used with the following meaning as illustrated below:
‘P © Q’ means ‘P is not greater than Q’
‘P # Q’ means ‘P is neither greater than nor equal to Q’
‘P @ Q’ means ‘P is neither greater than nor smaller than Q’
‘P £ Q’ means ‘P is neither smaller than or equal to Q’
‘P $ Q’ means ‘P is not smaller than Q’
