Hello, Greetings!! SSC CGL Pre 2017 will commence in the month of June/July 2017. In order to help and guide all of you, we're going to post VOCABULARY BASED ON THE HINDU NEWSPAPER. In all the competitive exams, Vocabulary questions are asked from newspapers. 

1.Amnesty
Meaning: an official pardon for people who have been convicted of political offences.
Synonym: pardon, pardoning, reprieve;
Sentence: "an amnesty for political prisoners"


2.Patrimony
Meaning: property inherited from one's father or male ancestor.
Synonym: heritage, inheritance, birthright;
Sentence: "owners refuse to part with their patrimony in the interests of agricultural development"

3.Stupendous
Meaning: extremely impressive.
Synonym: amazing, astounding, astonishing,
Antonym: run-of-the-mill, ordinary, minute, tiny
Sentence: "the most stupendous views"

4.Stringent
Meaning: (of regulations, requirements, or conditions) strict, precise, and exacting.
Synonym: strict, firm, rigid, rigorous, severe, harsh,
Antonym: lenient, flexible
Sentence: "stringent guidelines on air pollution"

5.Suave
Meaning: (especially of a man) charming, confident, and elegant.
Synonym: charming, sophisticated, debonair, urbane, worldly
Antonym: unsophisticated, rude
Sentence: "all the waiters were suave and deferential"

6.Jaded 
Meaning: bored or lacking enthusiasm, typically after having had too much of something.
Synonym: satiated, sated, surfeited, glutted, cloyed, gorged
Antonym: fresh
Sentence: "meals to tempt the most jaded appetites"

7.Jargon
Meaning: special words or expressions used by a profession or group that are difficult for others to understand.
Synonym: specialized language, technical language, slang, vernacular
Sentence: "legal jargon"

8.Passé
Meaning: no longer fashionable; out of date.
Synonym: out of date, outdated, out, dated, unfashionable, out of fashion, old-fashioned
Antonym: fashionable
Sentence: "minis are passé—the best skirts are knee-length"

9.Amicable
Meaning: characterized by friendliness and absence of discord.
Synonym: friendly, good-natured, cordial,
Antonym: unfriendly, hostile
Sentence: "an amicable settlement of the dispute"

10.Partisan
Meaning: a strong supporter of a party, cause, or person
Synonym: supporter, follower, adherent, devotee,
Sentence: "partisans of the exiled Stuarts"
