Hindu Newspaper Vocabulary for SBI PO 2017

Hello, Greetings!! SBI PO 2017 will commence in the month of APRIL 2017. In order to help and guide all of you, we're going to post VOCABULARY BASED ON THE HINDU NEWSPAPER. In all the competitive exams, Vocabulary questions are asked from newspapers. 


Meaning: different from the ordinary in a way that causes curiosity or suspicion 
Synonym: bizarre, erratic, kinky
Sentence: “The sudden appearance of a man dressed in quaint clothes immediately drew the notice of passersby”


2.Derogatory
Meaning: intended to make a person or thing seem of little importance or value
Synonym: belittling, decrying, demeaning
Sentence: “fans made a steady stream of derogatory remarks about the players on the visiting team”
Meaning: highly decorated
Synonym: bedizened, gingerbread
Sentence: “an ornate gambling casino that is designed to look like an Italian palace.”
4.Precipice
Meaning: a steep wall of rock, earth, or ice
Synonym: crag, escarpment
Sentence: “scaled the steep precipice with the ease of an experienced climber”
5.Salubrious
Meaning: beneficial to the health of body or mind 
Synonym: medicinal, restorative, wholesome
Sentence:  “fresh air and exercise are always salubrious”
6.Cantankerous
Meaning: often angry and annoyed
Synonym: acid, bearish, 
Sentence: “a cantankerous old woman insisted that nothing should ever be allowed to change”
7.Capacious
Meaning: more than adequate or average in capacity 
Synonym: ample, commodious, roomy
Sentence:  “that car has a capacious trunk that makes it a good choice for families”
8.Ludicrous
Meaning: causing or intended to cause laughter 
Synonym: droll, farcical, jocund
Sentence: “the ludicrous sight of their teacher in a Halloween costume”
9.Precipitous
Meaning: acting or done with excessive or careless speed
Synonym: cursory, drive-by, headlong
Sentence: “They soon regretted their precipitous actions in international affairs”
10.Carping
Meaning: marked by or inclined to querulous and often perverse criticism
Synonym: critical, fault finding, censorious
Sentence: “a peevish and carping old woman who is not a favorite at the nursing home.”
