Rajasthan launches Amma canteen-type meal scheme

i. Rajasthan government has launched a subsidised meal scheme ‘Annapurna Rasoi'.  As per the scheme, the poor and the needy will get breakfast for Rs 5 and lunch or dinner for Rs 8.



Rights of Persons with Disabilities Bill passed in Lok Sabha
i. The Lok Sabha has passed the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Bill 2016 in Lok Sabha on 16 December 2016, which replaces the Persons with Disabilities (Equal Opportunities, Protection of Rights and Full Participation) Act 1995. 
ii. The number of categories of differently-abled has been increased from seven to twenty-one so that the Divyangs could get the benefits of various schemes at the Centre and State level.


Himachal: First Cyber crime police station opens in Shimla

i. In Himachal Pradesh, the first Cyber Crime Police Station has been opened at state police headquarter in Shimla. Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh inaugurated this Police Station through video conferencing from his office.
ii. According to Deputy Inspector General CID and Cyber Crime Vinod Kumar Dhawan, the main objective of this police station is to deal with increasing crime based on misuse of information technology by the High tech criminals.

Priyanka 1st Indian to be made Pantene's global ambassador
i. Actress Priyanka Chopra has become the first Indian to be appointed as the global ambassador of the hair care brand 'Pantene calling the brand a "favourite around the world.

Huge ‘dead zone’ discovered in Bay of Bengal
i. The Bay of Bengal hosts a ‘dead zone’ of an estimated 60,000 square kilometres — an area that contains little or no oxygen and supports microbial processes that remove vast amount of nitrogen from the ocean, scientists, including those from India, have found.

Ministry of Minority affairs Launches website for Haj Pilgrims

i. Minister for Minority Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi launched the trilingual website www.haj.gov.in relating to Haj Matters.
ii. The website is in Hindi, Urdu and English languages.
