  • Disunity - a situation in which people are not in agreement or are not working together to achieve an aim

  • Majority - in an election, the difference in the number of votes between the winning person or group and the one that comes second
  • Resonate - to produce an emotional effect on someone
  • Rallying point - a place, event, or person that people are attracted to as a symbol of a political group or ideal
  • Defensive - used to protect someone or something against attack
  • Demonetisation - to officially stop using particular notes or coins, or a particular currency
  • Opponent - a person who disagrees with something and speaks against it or tries to change it
  • Unprepared - not ready
  • Tap into something - to manage to use something in a way that brings good results
  • Resentment - an angry unhappy feeling that you have when you think you have been treated unfairly or without enough respect

  • Curb - to control or limit something that is not wanted

  • Crisis - a time of great disagreement, confusion, or suffering
  • Inevitable - certain to happen and unable to be avoided or prevented
  • Inexplicable -  unable to be explained or understood
  • Forge - to make or produce something, especially with some difficulty
  • Delegation - a group of people who represent a country, government, or organization
  • Waiver - an agreement that you do not have to pay or obey something
  • Ally- someone who is ready to help you, especially against someone else who is causing problems for you
  • Driven apart - to become less friendly and
  • Alliance - an agreement to work with someone else to try to achieve the same thing

  • Conservatives - people who don't like or trust change
  • Slaughter - the killing of many people cruelly and unfairly, especially in a war
  • Marines - a part of a country's military forces that takes part especially in operations on land that begin from the sea
  • Betrayal - to chat someone who believes you
  • Low-key - without much activity or reaction
  • Veteran - someone who has been in the armed forces during a war
  • Devastation - the process of destroying a place or thing completely or cause great damage
  • Condole - to show sympathy and sadness for the family or friends of a person who has recently died
  • Horror - something that is very shocking or frightening
  • Repudiate - to say formally that something is not true
  • Cold War - unfriendly relations between countries who are not at war with each other
  • Scenario - a situation that could possibly happen
  • Scepticism - sdoubts that someone has about something that other people think is true or right
  • Partisan - strongly supporting a person, principle, or political party, often without considering or judging the matter very carefully
  • Emphasising - to show that something is very important or worth giving attention to
  • President-elect - someone who has been elected president but has not officially started the position yet
  • Rhetoric - speech or writing intended to be effective and influence people
  • Painted a picture - to describe a situation in a particular way

  • Consolidating - to become, or cause something to become, stronger, and more certain
  • Weathering - changing
  • Uncertainty -  a situation in which something is not known
  • Grappling - fighting
