- Diminishing - reducing / becoming less
- Equivocation - to speak in a way that is intentionally not clear and confusing to other people, especially to hide the truth
- Bitter lesson - painful lesson
- Prima facie - based on what seems to be true, before a situation has been examined in detail
- Contempt - a strong feeling of disliking and having no respect for someone or something
- Perjury - the crime of telling lies in court when you have promised to tell the truth
- Predicament - an unpleasant situation that is difficult to get out of
- Reluctance - unwillingness to do something
- Reform - a change that is intended to correct a situation that is wrong or unfair, or make a system work more effectively
- Ham-handed - doing things in an unskilled way
- Interference - the process of deliberately becoming involved in a situation and trying to influence the way that it develops, although you have no right to do this
- Allegedly - if someone allegedly does something, another person says that they have done it, even though this has not been proved
- Mandating - to give an official order or make a law stating that something must be done
- Apex - the most important or successful part of something
- Take a dim view of something - to disapprove of something
- Displeased - annoyed or angry, usually because something is not very good or someone has made a mistake
- Affidavit - a legal document containing a written promise that something is true
- Disclosed - to give information to people, especially information that was secret
- Consequence - a result of a particular action or situation, often one that is bad or not convenient
- Oversee - to watch or organize a job or an activity to make certain that it is being done correctly
- Gain ground - to become more successful, popular, or accepted
- Defiance - refusal to obey a person or rule
- Affiliate - to have a connection with or support a larger organization or group
- Confrontation - a fight or argument
- Verdict - judgement
- Reputation - the opinion that people have about how good or how bad someone or something is
- Intransigence - an unreasonable refusal to change your ideas or behaviour
- Embracing - to accept something enthusiastically
- Transparency - the quality of being done in an open way without secrets
- Convicting - to decide officially in a law court that someone is guilty of a crime
- Contempt - behaviour that is illegal because it does not obey or respect the rules of a law court
- Wholehearted - showing complete sincerity and commitment
- Reforms - improvements / changes that are intended to correct a situation that is wrong or unfair, or make a system work more effectively

- Decoding - to discover the meaning of information given in a secret or complicated way
- Aticipated - to imagine or expect that something will happen
- Resume - to start again after pause
- Normalisation - to make something normal, or to become normal
- Monetary - relating to a country’s money and to the systems that a country uses for controlling its money supply
- Benchmark - a level of quality that can be used as a standard when comparing other things
- Unequivocally - total, or expressed in a clear and certain way
- Back on track - working or happening normally again
- Bodes well - to be a sign that something good will happen
- Spur - something that encourages someone to do something
- Heartening - making you feel happier and more positive
- Undergird - to secure underneath; to strengthen, support, hold
- Gradual - to happen slowly and by small amounts
- Median - average (the median value is the middle one in a set of values arranged in order of size)
- Projection - a calculation or guess about the future based on information that you have
- Calibrated - accurate
- Unravel - begins to fail
- Bolster - to support or improve something or make it stronger
- Prospects - the possibility of being successful
- Sanguine - positive and hoping for good things
- Perspective - a way of thinking about something (point of view)
- Deficit - the total amount by which money spent is more than money received
- Impact - an effect, or an influence
- Glint - to shine with quick flashes of light
- Anticipation - a feeling of excitement about something that is going to happen in the near future
- Spurring - encouraging
- Exodus - a situation in which a lot of people leave a place or activity at the same time
- Portfolio - all the investments that a person or company has made
- Rhetoric - speech or writing intended to be effective and influence people
- Tenterhooks - worried or nervous about something that is going to happen
- Stemming - to stop something from spreading or increasing
- Tempered - to make something less strong, extreme, etc
- Caution - great care and attention
