  • Diminishing - reducing / becoming less
  • Equivocation - to speak in a way that is intentionally not clear and confusing to other people, especially to hide the truth
  • Bitter lesson - painful lesson

  • Prima facie - based on what seems to be true, before a situation has been examined in detail
  • Contempt - a strong feeling of disliking and having no respect for someone or something
  • Perjury - the crime of telling lies in court when you have promised to tell the truth

  • Reluctance - unwillingness to do something
  • Reform - a change that is intended to correct a situation that is wrong or unfair, or make a system work more effectively

  • Affiliate - to have a connection with or support a larger organization or group
  • Confrontation - a fight or argument
  • Verdict - judgement
  • Reputation - the opinion that people have about how good or how bad someone or something is
  • Intransigence - an unreasonable refusal to change your ideas or behaviour
  • Embracing - to accept something enthusiastically
  • Transparency - the quality of being done in an open way without secrets
  • Convicting - to decide officially in a law court that someone is guilty of a crime

  • Tempered - to make something less strong, extreme, etc
  • Caution - great care and attention
