  • Chief - leader of a group or organization (highest in authority, position, or rank)
  • Former - used for describing someone that had a particular job, title, status etc in the past, but not now

  • Instance - a particular situation, event, or fact, especially an example of something that happens generally
  • Serving - employed at the present time in a particular organization, especially the armed forces

  • Alleged - to say that someone has done something illegal or wrong without giving proof
  • Irregularity - something that is not correct or acceptable

  • Enforcement - the process of making sure that something happens, especially that people obey a law or rule
  • Evidence - facts, statements, or objects that help to prove whether or not someone has committed a crime

  • Twists and turns - complicated dealings or circumstances
  • Overturned - to change a legal decision
  • Sentenced - gave a punishment (by a judge in court)
  • Scandal -  a situation in which important people behave in a dishonest or immoral way that shocks people
  • Accusing - suggesting that you think someone has done something bad
  • Middleman - someone who communicates or makes arrangements between two people or groups
  • Concrete - real / practical
  • Kickback - an amount of money that is paid to someone illegally in exchange for secret help or work
  • Extensive - covering a large area; having a great range
  • Corroborate - to support what someone says by giving information or evidence that agrees with them
  • Conviction - the fact of officially being found to be guilty of a particular crime, or the act of officially finding someone guilty
  • Ramification - a complicated or unexpected way in which a decision, process, or event affects other things
  • Plays out - to develop or end in a particular way

  • Decisively - to make decisions quickly and confidently

  • Revolution - a situation in which people completely change their government or political system, usually by force
  • Backing - support
  • Relentless - something bad that is relentless never seems to stop or improve
  • Humanitarian - caring about someone who is in a very bad situation or receiving unfair treatment
  • Disaster - something very bad that happens and causes a lot of damage or kills a lot of people
  • Indiscriminate - not showing careful thought or planning, especially so that harm results
  • Scorched - slightly burned, or damaged by fire or heat
  • Tactic - a planned way of doing something
  • Negotiate - to try to reach an agreement by discussing something in a formal way, especially in a business or political situation
  • Retreat - to go to a quiet safe place in order to avoid a difficult situation
  • Fleeing - to escape by running away, especially because of danger or fear
  • Bloodshed - killing and violence
  • Rechannell - to re-use something for a particular purpose
