1. INSV Mhadei Flagged Off with an all-women crew
1. Indian Navy Sailing Vessel (INSV) Mhadei with an all-women crew was flagged off from Goa to Cape Town, South Africa. The vessel was flagged-off at the Boat Pool of INS Mandovi on 9 November 2016 by Rear Admiral Monty Khanna, Commandant Naval War College.
2. The vessel that will reach Cape Town on 15 December 2016 will be participating in the “Cape to Rio Race” (Cape Town to Rio de Janeiro). The race will start from Cape Town on 26 December 2016.
2. Sharapova to return as UN goodwill ambassador
1. United Nations in a statement said that the tennis star Maria Sharapova will once again be its goodwill ambassador. She will be re-appointed as UN Goodwill ambassador after her doping ban expires in April 2017 and she returns to international tennis competition.
2. Maria Sharapova was suspended as the goodwill ambassador on 15 March 2016 after she tested positive for the banned substance meldonium at 2016 Australian Open. Her suspension ended her nine-year-long partnership with the UN development programme.
3. The five-time grand slam winner was named as a goodwill ambassador in February 2007.
3. Tsunami hits New Zealand coast after powerful earthquake
1. An earthquake with a magnitude of 7.8 struck central New Zealand just after midnight, the U.S. Geological Survey said, generating a tsunami that hit the northeast coast of the South Island.
2. New Zealand's Ministry of Civil Defence and Emergency Management warned of the risk of destructive waves along the country's entire east coast and urged residents in low-lying areas to evacuate and seek higher ground.
3. Monday's quake, initially put at 7.4 but later upgraded, struck at 12:02 a.m. It was only 10 kilometre deep and felt throughout most of the country.
4. The main tremor was followed by a series of strong aftershocks and there were reports of damaged buildings in the small rural township of Cheviot near the epicentre.
5. Sydney to host Invictus Games in 2018: Britain's Prince Harry
1. Australia will host the 2018 Invictus Games for wounded military personnel, Britain's Prince Harry announced.
2. More than 500 serving and former personnel from 17 nations will compete in the multi-sports competition in Sydney.
3. The games have been held in London and Orlando, and are due to be held in Toronto next year.
