1. National Ayurveda Day to be observed today

• The Ministry of AYUSH will observe National Ayurveda Day on 28th October on the occasion of Dhanvantari Divas

2. Government approves the establishment of National Academic Depository.

• The decision aims at bringing another dimension and enhancement of the vision of Digital India.
• The NAD would be operationalised by NSDL Database Management Limited (NDML) and CDSL Ventures, Limited (CVL) – two of the wholly owned subsidiaries of the Depositories registered under Securities Exchange Board of India (SEBI) Act, 1992.

3. RBI has allowed Startups to raise up to $3 million of External Commercial Borrowings in a financial year for a period of 3 years.

• The decision aims at giving a boost to innovation and promoting the job opportunities in the country.

International

1. Nadia Murad and Lamiya Aji Bashar awarded Sakharov Prize 2016.

• The Two Yazidi women, who escaped sexual enslavement by Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) in Iraq, have won Europe’s top human rights award, the Sakharov prize.

2. World Bank appoints first advisor to handle LGBTI Discrimination.

• The step aims at solidifying the bank’s efforts to research and curb discrimination against LGBT people across the 136 countries where its offices are present.

3. China orders a national census on the sources of pollution.

• The decision aims to bring down the high pollution level affecting several of its main cities.

1. The first woman who conquered Mount Everest Junko Tabei passes away.

• She was the japanese mountaineer and the first woman to ascend all Seven Summits by climbing the highest peak on every continent.

2. Goa’s First Woman Chief Minister Shashikala Kakodkar Dies At 81

• Shashikala Kakodkar is a prominent leader of the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP), a political party based in Goa, India, that espouses the cause of the Bahujan Samaj.
