Below is the SBI PO 2016 Interview Experience of GradeUp user.

Interview Experience SBI PO 2016 Exam

Hello frndz,

Sharing my SBI PO GD- INTERVIEW EXPERIENCE 2016

Date: 1st September 2016

Timing: 10:00 am

Venue: State Bank Learning Centre, Panchkula

The judgment day. Everything seemed so great for me. I reached the room where verification process was on the go. I firmly sat there, in order to have a pre-interview practice. They took great time in investigating my documents, but I was fully prepared for this as well. They found no error so Okay-ed me and asked me to wait in that other room they mentioned. There were candidates, hell yeah! There were candidates. Some were too jovial like they don’t even know what’s going on. Some were too tensed like they will be prosecuted soon. After a while, some officials entered and directed us to the group discussion hall.

It was too dramatic. A big hall with ten chairs arranged in a circular fashion. My serial number was One, like every interview I’ve given before, so I had to initiate the sitting process. Then a panel of two officials came, well dressed and with a firm attitude. Their presence started giving me goose bumps. I somehow managed to keep my cool.

Then one of them, who seemed relatively junior in cadre, started the conversation. “Hello everyone! First of all I want to congratulate you all since you have successfully cleared the two phases of selection process. See! We are here to let you have a healthy discussion about a topic still unknown to me.” He smiled a bit. “There will be two rounds of discussion. In first, you will be given a topic to discuss about. After this discussion, there will be another discussion in which we will give you a sheet with directions, which are self-explanatory. There will be no buzzers, no order of speaking, no restriction of language. You can speak in a manner you desire. We will not interrupt you during the discussion. Do not think that you have to follow rules or anything. We just want to see a healthy discussion here. Now my colleague will enlighten this process in a more explained way.”

Then the other one, who seemed bossy and strict, started. “There will be five minutes after disclosing the topic for you to jot down your points. After which, you will be given twenty minutes to have a discussion. You can use the writing-pads and pencils given to you for writing your ideas. After this discussion, you will be given a sheet for second discussion. That sheet will contain directions and the topic to discuss.” “The time span of five plus twenty minutes will remain same for the second discussion as well.” He added.

“Shall we start?” The first one announced it so energetically that I almost roared, “YESS!!”
The topic given to us was, “Is the technology hampering the human creativity?

I was happy. I knew that I can talk for days about technology. During the discussion, I made many points related to Arts and culture, Time utilization or Time wastage, Humanoid robots, 3D Printers, and I also given reference of some apps like Prisma, which claims to make artworks by algorithms. Except one or two candidates, everyone was participating in the discussion actively. It was a healthy discussion for me, as I made highest number of points.

Then after few minutes, they gave us sheets. In that sheet, nine problems about a nation were given, and we were expected to give a priority order to them. After which, we had to discuss these problems and reach a consensus. The problems were:

Population, Inflation, Terrorism, Crime, External threats, Food production, Corruption, Natural calamities and one more which I am forgetting.

It was also a good debate, though we did not reach to a proper consensus. But discussion was really healthy this time as well.
Then after a brief Thank you talk, they left, and some other officials asked us to go back to that waiting room. After waiting for nearly half an hour, they called me and two others to follow them. As my name was at first place, I was expecting the same. After sitting on a sofa for 10-15 minutes, they called me in.

“Good afternoon everyone!” I wished as I noticed the time right before entering, it was 12:48 pm.
“Hello Shivaji!” The man in the center said after offering me a seat.

M1: “Tell me why do you want to join a bank after doing engineering?” The same trademarked question he uttered.

Me: “Sir! I want stability and job-security from the profession I choose. For an average engineering student like me, it is difficult to crack IES or go for PSUs through GATE, that’s why I chose banking over engineering.” I answered with a simple tone.

M1: “So you think that SBI will give you the job security you desire?” He asked immediately.

Me: “Yes Sir! That’s why I’ve chosen this sector.” I answered.

M1: “Okay tell me, what is inflation?”

Me: “Sir! The increase in prices is inflation.” I briefly said.

M1: “Can you elaborate?”

Me: “Sir! If there is an increase in the money supply in the market, there will be a boost in consumption. And if consumption increases, prices will increase. This is inflation.”

M1: “How the money supply increases?”

Me: “Sir! Fiscal policy and monetary policy are responsible for this.”

M1: “And who controls these policies?”

Me: “Sir! Fiscal policy is controlled by the central government and RBI is responsible for monetary policy.”

M2: “What is energy efficiency rating?”

Me: I did not know about it so I simply said, “Sorry Sir! I have no idea about it.”

M2: “Okay! Then tell me how to reduce power consumption if I am a common-man.”

Me: “Sir! You can use pure copper wires in connections rather than the copper-aluminum wire which people are using today. This mixing is done to cheapen the wire, but the resistance also increases because of this.”

M2: “Point taken. Tell me more.”

Me: “Sir! To reduce power consumption, one has to stabilize voltage. For voltage stability, you can use transformers…..”

M2: “But I’m a common-man, I don’t know about transformers and voltage stability.” He interrupted.

Me: “Sir! You can use LED lights and CFLs in place of traditional tube lights.”

M3: “You have mentioned performing own social responsibilities as one of your hobby, what exactly do you do in it?”

Me: “Sir! During my college years, I with some of my friends started an NGO ROOH, for providing financial aid to children of mess-workers for their school fees. But because of some rules in the Societies’ act, we were required to have a permanent office. As we did not have any place to call our office, the college suggested us to make ROOH a college society, and now ROOH is a full-fledged college society.” I was very happy while talking about this.

M4: “What is the difference between Electrical Engineering and Electronics Engineering?”

Me: “Sir! Electronics is basically a derivative of Electrical Engineering. In Electrical, we operate in a broader approach. The area of consideration in Electronics is comparatively very small.”

M4: “Is there any difference related to the amount of parameters in it?”

Me: “Yes Sir!” I thought how I can forget about this point. “In Electrical, we talk about Mega-amperes etc. But in Electronics, we take micro-amperes in our consideration.”

F: “You were talking about social responsibilities; Do you know what is CSR?”

Me: “Yes Ma’am! Corporate Social Responsibility.” I answered. “If any corporate firm makes profit from a nation, then it is the duty of that firm to devote some of the profit for the humanitarian works in that nation.”

F: “Do banks have to obey the CSR norms?”

Me: “Yes Ma’am! They have to give 2% of total profits earned.”

F: “Are you sure about this?”

Me: “Yes Ma’am! In fact I had a discussion about this with my teacher a few days ago. He said that banks do not have to follow CSR norms. Then I read many news articles and came to know that last year, the Finance ministry gave a proposal to the Corporate affairs ministry to exclude the banks from CSR obligations as the banks are facing high NPAs and they need capital to overcome their loss. But the Corporate ministry rejected this proposal.”

F: Okay!“Thank you! You may go now.”

Me: “Thank you for your time everyone!” I wished them and came out of the room.
It was an exciting experience for me. From staff to other candidates, everyone was cooperating. SBI officials gave me 3-tier AC fare and a coupon for lunch in their mess. After all this, I went back to the other candidates and shook hands with them. I wished them luck and came out of the SBI premises.

Thanks!!
