ENGLISH
Today we will brush up a major topic of English Grammer – Conjunctions.
As per definition, a Conjunction may be defined as a word that is used to connect clauses or sentences or to coordinate words in the same clause (e.g.and, but, if ). These may be further classified into 3 types namely,
1. Coordinating Conjunction : These conjunctions are used to link or join two words or phrases that are equally important when compared with each other.
Example – She does not work on Saturdays or Sundays
2. Subordinating Conjunction : These conjunctions are used to join an independent and complete clause with a dependent clause that relies on the complete or the main clause for it’s relevance.
Example – She was suspended from the college because she misbehaved with the teacher
3. Correlative Conjunction : Correlative Conjunctions are pairs of conjunctions used in a sentence to join different words or groups of words in a sentence together.
Example – Both the tickets and the food at the theatre was overpriced.
