IBPS RRB V: Prelim – Syllabus & Exam Pattern

The process of online registration for IBPS RRB V 2016 examination had begun. This is a golden good opportunity for all those aspirants, who want to make their career in Public Sector Banks. There are many exams on the way like – IBPS PO, IBPS Clerk, and IBPS RRB V. It is up to you how to make the best use of these opportunities.

Many of you will apply and will appear in the examination. It is important to have complete understanding and knowledge of the detail syllabus and pattern of the exam of which you are going to apply.

There is a famous quote – “Knowledge is Power” – It means – Knowledge is a powerful factor that empowers people achieves great results. The more knowledge a person gains, the more powerful he/she becomes.

As you all know, from this year, IBPS has made some changes in the pattern of the RRB Officer Scale I & Office Assistant exam. A new scheme of selection has been introduced from this recruitment onwards. Many candidates have queries regarding the syllabus and Exam Pattern of Prelim Exam. To make the best out of this opportunity, we are providing the detailed exam pattern and expected syllabus for IBPS RRB V Exam.

IBPS RRB Pre 2016 Syllabus &Exam Pattern

I. Officer Scale-I

The Selection Process of the Exam consists of 3 phases which are given below:

(i) Phase I:Online Preliminary Examination (Objective Test)

(ii) Phase II:Online Mains Examination (Objective Test)

(iii) Phase III: Interview

NOTE:   

  • Prelims Exam is of qualifying nature.
  • Marks obtained in mains examination only will be counted for interview call.
  • Final merit list will be made on the basis of total marks obtained in Mains exam & Interview.
  • There will be negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer in prelims & mains.
  • There will be sectional as well as over-all cut off in prelims & mains both.
  • There is no Descriptive test in phase II of the IBPS RRBs V Exam.

Pattern of Prelims Exam 

The prelim exam will have total 80 questions which will be spread over two section which includes – Reasoning & Quantitative Aptitude. The duration of the exam is 45 minutes. The rule of sectional & overall cutoff implies in the prelim exam. The marks secured in Phase I (Prelim Exam) will not be counted for the purpose of final Selection. This is a qualifying round.

Expected Syllabus

Though, it is in trend now to change the pattern in almost every exam. But the topics from which the questions are asked don’t change much. So here we are listing the expected topics of each of the sections from which the questions can be asked.

I. Reasoning

  • Seating Arrangement- Circular
  • Seating Arrangement- Linear
  • Puzzle – Floor based, days based, colour, etc.
  • Syllogism
  • Coding Decoding / Alphanumeric Series
  • Miscellaneous – Ranking/Direction/Alphabet test, Blood relation
  • Inequality

II. Quantitative Aptitude

  • Simplification / Approximation
  • Number Series
  • Data Interpretation – Table Chart, Bar Chart / Line Graph
  • Miscellaneous questions from different topics like – Ratio & Proportion, Percentage & Averages, Profit & Loss, Mixtures & Allegations, Simple Interest & Compound Interest, Work & Time, Time & Distance
  • Quadratic Equation.

II. Office Assistant

Expected Syllabus

The questions that will be asked can be from any of the following mentioned topics. So go through the syllabus thoroughly which will give you a proper idea of the expected questions from each of the sections.

I. Reasoning

This topic is favorite for those candidates who are not fast at calculations because there is no need of any calculation in this section. All you need is proper observation and analytical skills which build up exponentially with practice.

  • Seating Arrangement (Linear/ Circular)
  • Puzzle
  • Inequality
  • Coding Decoding / Number Symbol Coding, Alphanumeric series
  • Miscellaneous – Ranking/Direction/Alphabet test, Blood relation
  • Number series puzzle
  • Syllogism

II. Numerical Ability

  • Simplification
  • Approximation
  • Number Series
  • Miscellaneous questions from different topics like – Ratio & Proportion, Percentage & Averages, Profit & Loss, Mixtures & Allegations, Simple Interest & Compound Interest, Work & Time, Time & Distance
  • Data Interpretation – Table, Line Graph, Bar Chart

Note: The level of both Officer Scale I & Office Assitant Exam will be of an easy level.

At last – The success mantra to crack prelims exam is to attempt and mark the answer with 100% accuracy. Speed & time management will play a vital role in cracking prelims exam. All you need is to solve questions and practice Mock tests with fixed time duration. After each mock test, check where you lack and in which section and questions you are lacking. Improve it in next test, this exercise will surely help you in cracking upcoming exam.
