I. An amount of Rs. 6200 fetches simple interest of Rs. 1736 in two years.

Solutions:
1). c)From statement I
1736 = (6200 × 2 × R)/100=R⇒14%
From statement II
4500 + 1348.2 = 4500[1+R/100]^2
[1+R/100]^2=1.3⇒R≈14%
Hence, data in either statement I alone or statement II alone is sufficient.
2). a)From statement I
Marks in Biology = 42 × 2 = 84
Hence, data in statement I alone is sufficient.
3). b)From statement I
From statement II
r=a=√144=12
∴ Area of circle =πr^2=144π
Hence, the data in statement II is sufficient.
4). e)From both statements.
Jyoti’s income = Amit’s income + 8500
Amit’s income = 3.5×2=7000
∴ Jyoti’s income = 7000 + 8500 = 15,500
5). e)From statement I
Minimum passing marks = 162 + 104 = 266
From statement II
Maximum marks = 538 + 162 = 700
Required% =266/700×100=38%
Hence, data given in both statements are necessary
