Answers:
1). d) 2). b) 3). a) 4). c) 5). e) 6). e) 7). e) 8). b) 9). d) 10). c)
1).(Total qualified / Total appeared) × 100 = [ (11295 + 12170) / (111300 + 115650) ] × 100
= (23465 × 100) / 226950 = 10.34
Answer:  d)
2).Note : You are not expected to calculate the % values exactly. To answer the questions see the following facts:
% of qualified to appeared (A) = (1800 / 15250) × 100
% of qualified to appeared (B) = (1100 / 12500) × 100
Which percentage is lesser ? Naturally we have to compare the fractions 1800 / 15250 and 1100 / 12500
Or 18 / 15.25  and 11 / 12.5
Clearly, the first fraction is more than one and the second less than one.
Hence 18 / 15.25  > 11 / 12.5
Similarly, for C the fraction is more than one.
Now, for D the fraction is (16.4 / 17.6). Now compare 11 / 12.5 and 16.4 / 17.6. To compare two fraction we can apply the cross – multiplication rule.
11 × 17.6 < 12.5 × 16.4 or 193.6 < 209.92
Therefore 11 / 12.5 < 16.4 / 17.6 [ sign of inequality according to numerator]
Another way to compare the two fractions:
In fraction 11 / 12.5 the denominator is approximately 14% more than the numerator.
But in fraction 16.4 / 17.6, the denominator is approximately 10% more than numerator. This conclusion implies that the ratio of numerator to denominator in first fraction is less than the same ratio in second fraction. This implies that the first fraction is less than the second fraction. Now, following a similar logic, we find a closer competitor for our choice in case of F, where the fraction is 12.5 / 14.5. If we compare it with 11 / 12.5 we find that in 12.5 / 14.5 the denominator is more than 16% of numerator. Hence we conclude that 12.5 / 14.5 < 11 / 12.5
Hence our required answer is F, ie choice (b)
Answer: b)
3).[ (1480 + 1575) / (15500 / 14800) ] × 100 = (3055 / 30300) × 100 = 10%
Answer: a)
Answer: c)
5).Ans = 14050
Answer: e)
6).Total Exp = 45 + 40 = 85 cr
Total Inc = 35 + 50 = 85 cr
No profit no loss.
Answer: e)
7).Income of A in 1999 = 37.5 [ 100 / (100 + 10) ]cr
Expenditure in 1999 = 37.5 (100 / 110) (100 / 120) = 28.41 cr.
Answer: e)
8). Expenditure of G in 1999 = 45(100 / 120)
Income of G in 1999 = 45(100 / 120)(110 / 100) = 41.25 cr.
Answer: b)
9).We see that highest loss or gain is 10 cr. (Companies A, B, C, D). Now, we have to find the lowest expenditure among these companies because in % profit, expenditure comes in denominator and for the highest value, denominator should be the lowest so our answer is (A), or choice (4).
Answer: d)
10).Combined  % profit = [(+10 +10 – 10 + 10 – 5 + 7.5 + 5) / 260]  × 100
= (27.5 / 260) × 100 = 10.5%

Answer: c)
