In the present competitive scenario English plays a very important role in our day to day life. Thus it is essential to have a sound knowledge and understanding of English vocabulary. So here we are presenting you a list of 10 difficult words from today’s newspapers. This will help you to sail and score good marks in English Language section. We will provide Daily Word List on a regular basis.

Here is today’s list of words

1. Impecunious– adjective– Having no money– बेचारा

Synonyms  destitute, insolvent

Antonyms – wealthy, moneyed

E.g. – Impecunious students commonly find themselves in debt after overindulging in the use of credit cards.

2. Labyrinth– noun–A maze– भूलभुलैया

Synonyms – Complication, skein

Antonyms – smplicity, organisation

E.g. – South, there is a very curious labyrinth of red marble rocks.

3. Plebeian– adjective– Common – लौकिक

Synonyms – conventional, uncultivated

Antonyms – aristocratic, extraordinary

E.g. – Such an immigrant, therefore, must have become at once a free plebeian citizen of Rome.

4. Raucous– adjective–Harsh– फटा

Synonyms – hoarse, dissonant

Antonyms – subdued, quiet

E.g. – Raucous but fun is how they always describe her birthday parties.

5. Ornate– adjective– Ornamented to a marked degree सरूप

Synonyms – flaunting, jeweled

Antonyms – offensive, unsophisticated

E.g. – The church of St Andrew retains some ornate Norman work, but is mainly a Perpendicular reconstruction.

6. Magisterial– adjective–Having an air of authority– आदेशपूर्ण

Synonyms – pompous, autocratic

E.g. – The province is divided into sixteen magisterial districts.

7. Sacrilegious – adjective– Impious– अपवित्रीकरण 

Synonyms – filthy, violating

Antonyms – moral, decent

E.g. – Burning the Bible is a sacrilegious act.

8. Obelisk– noun– A square shaft with pyramidal top, usually monumental or commemorative– ओबिलिस्क

Synonyms – dagger, shaft

E.g. – She sat in front of the obelisk, staring at all that remained of her family history.

9. Knead – verb– To mix and work into a homogeneous mass, especially with the hands– सानना

Synonyms – manipulate, twist

Antonyms – destroy, neglect

E.g. – Put the meal into the trough, add water gradually, and knead it thoroughly.

10. Nihilist– noun– An advocate of the doctrine that nothing either exists or can be known.– नाइलीस्ट 

Synonyms – revolutionary, cynic

E.g. – He was the first and worst nihilist.
