SBI PO 2016 Exam Pattern
State Bank of Indian has recently start Recruitment Exercise for the Most awaited Exam of Banking Sector i.e. SBI PO. Notification for 2368 Posts of Probationary Officer is released.

The stages of recruitment involved under the SBI PO Exam Pattern 2016 are as follows:
Phase 1: Preliminary Examination
Phase 2: Main Examination
Phase 3: Group Discussion and Interview
The candidates should note that their participation in every other stage except the Phase 1 is subject to their qualification through a cutoff score which the SBI brings out just after the examination depending upon the constitutional affirmative policy.
FINAL SELECTION:-
The marks obtained in the Preliminary Examination (Phase-I) will not be added for the selection and only the marks obtained in Main Examination (Phase-II) will be added to the marks obtained in GD & Interview (Phase-III) for preparation of the final merit list.
The candidates will have to qualify both in Phase-II and Phase-III separately.
NOTE :- Descriptive Test paper of only those candidates will be evaluated who have scored qualifying marks in the Objective Tests and are placed adequately high as per total marks in objective test.
Phase 1: SBI PO Preliminary Exam Pattern 2016
Important highlights for the Exam pattern followed in the preliminary exam are as follows:
1. The Preliminary examination is an objective type examination where the candidates need to select one correct option out of given four options.
2. The total mark of the exam is 100.
3. For every correct response provided, the candidates would be awarded 1 mark and for every wrong response ¼ mark willet deducted. However, no mark will be deducted for any response.
4. The test would be conducted online.
5. The total time allotted is 60 minutes or 1 hour.
Change in SBI PO Mains Exam Pattern 2016 (Phase 2)
SBI has made some changes in the SBI PO Exam Pattern 2016 for Mains exam. Now the objective test in the main examination will be of 3 hours duration consisting of 4 sections for 200 marks. Moreover, SBI has fixed separate timing for every section in the objective test. The Descriptive test in the main examination will be of 30 minutes comprising of 50 marks. However, no changes have been made in the exam pattern of SBI PO Preliminary examination.
1. SBI PO Main Examination will consist of Objective Tests for 200 marks and Descriptive Test for 50 marks.
2. Both the Objective and Descriptive Tests will be online. Candidates will have to answer Descriptive Test by typing on the computer.
3. Immediately after completion of Objective Test, Descriptive Test will be administered.
4. The objective test will be for 3-hour duration consisting of 4 sections of total 200 marks.
Changes in Mains Exam Pattern
Step 1: Total Time for SBI PO Mains Examination: Previously, the total time for solving objective paper of SBI PO Exam was 2 Hours. But, as per the new exam pattern, the total time for SBI PO Mains has been extended to 3 Hours.
Step 2: Section-wise time allotment: For SBI PO 2016, there will also be sectional limit on each of the sectional objective paper. The exam will be conducted online and each section has a timer.
Descriptive Section Pattern:
Along with the objective type question, the Main Exam will have questions in the descriptive format as well. Following are the important points to ponder for the written examination:
1. The Descriptive Test will be of 30 minutes duration comprising of 50 marks.
2. The test will be of English Language (Letter Writing and Essay).
3. The candidates are required to qualify in the Descriptive Test by securing passing marks, to be decided by the Bank.
4. Descriptive Test paper of only those candidates will be evaluated who have scored qualifying marks in the Objective Tests and are placed adequately high as per total marks in Objective Test.
This test will judge the writing skills of the candidates.
Phase 3: Group Discussion and Personal Interview
The candidates who clear the cutoff score for the Main Examination would then be called for a group discussion and personal Interview test where the candidates will have to face an Interview board. The Group Discussion will carry 20 marks and Interview will carry 30 marks
