Hello everyone, in our Lesson 6, we learnt about the prefix ana. Ana represents the meanings up; back; again; anew. Today we shall see the prefix ante. Happy Reading :)
Day 7 : Ante
- ante - before; preceding
Let's try to understand this with some examples....
- antedate (verb) = to be built or formed or to happen, at an earlier date than something else in the past.
- ante - Prefix = before
- date - Root = date
- antenatal (adjective) = relating to the medical care given to the pregnant woman
- ante - Prefix = before
- nat (nasci) - R = to be born
- al - Suffix = connected to
- antepast = a foretaste [something that gives you an idea of what something else is like by allowing you to experience a small example of it before it happens]
- anterior = preceding in time or place
- antemeridiem = coming before noon
- antediluvian = belonging to the time before the biblical Flood (extremely old-fashioned)
- anteversion = a tipping forward of an organ
- anteroom = a waiting room, before a larger, more important room
- antecedent = someone or something existing or happening before, especially as the origin of something / someone
