  • Countless - too many to be counted
  • Retired - to leave your job or stop working because of old age or ill health
  • Risk-free - does not involve any risk
  • Parking - leave (something) in a convenient place until required
  • Hard-earned - achieved only after a lot of effort
  • Returns - profit from an investment
  • Pare - to reduce something
  • Vis-à-vis - in relation to
  • Crucial - extremely important or necessary
  • Core - most important part of something
  • Constituency - the people who live and can vote in a particular area
  • Emerging - starting to exist
  • Partially - only in part; to a limited extent
  • Transmitted - to pass something from one person or place to another
  • Borrow - to take or obtain with the promise to return the same or an equivalent
  • Peculiar - unusual and strange, sometimes in an unpleasant way
  • Predicament - a difficult, unpleasant or embrassing situation
  • On the mat - being formally disapproved by someone in authority
  • Encounter - to face something unexpectedly
  • Set the stage for something - prepare the conditions for something
  • Regime - a system or ordered way of doing things
  • Perspective - a ​particular way of ​considering something (point of view)
  • Roadblock - something that stops progress
  • Eventually - in the end

  • Striking - attracting attention for unusual reasons
  • Revive - restore to life
  • Alliance - a union or association formed for mutual benefit
  • Disaffection - feeling of being dissatisfied (especially with people in authority or a system of control)

  • Negotiating - to ​deal with something ​difficult
