1.Mann Ki Baat: Want 'Ek Bharat, Shresht Bharat' scheme, says PM Modi
Amid the 'intolerance' debate, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said he proposes to put in place 'Ek Bharat, Shresht Bharat' scheme aimed at strengthening the country's unity and harmony and invited suggestions in this regard.
He asked people to give suggestions on the portal MyGov.com as to what should be its structure, the logo and how to increase public participation in it.
"It is expected to be a very specific scheme. Apply your creative mind and give suggestions as to how to connect each and every Indian with the mantra of unity and harmony and 'Ek Bharat, Shresht Bharat'," the Prime Minister said.
He said suggestions should be with regard to what kind of scheme it should be, the kind of programme under it and what should the government, the society and the civil society do.
2. Union Government to roll out BS V norms from April 1, 2019
Union Government has decided to advance the date for implementation of Bharat Stage (BS) V and BS VI emission norms for four-wheelers in order to reduce vehicular air pollution from road transport sector. As per advance dates, BS V norms will be rolled out from 1st of April, 2019 and BS VI norms from 1st April, 2021. In this regard draft notification was issued Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways as per the Auto Fuel Policy, 2003.
Issued BS stages are BS-I Euro 1 2000
BS-II Euro 2 2005
BS-III Euro 3 2010
BS-IV Euro 4 2015 (63 cities till 1 April 2015)
Earlier, Saumitra Chaudhri Committee had recommended to introduce even lesser vehicular pollutant releasing BS-V (0.005 rspm) and BS-VI (0.0025 rspm) norms throughout the nation by 2022 and 2024 respectively.
3. Sindhu wins Macau Open title for third time

4. India announces $2.5-mn aid to help poor nations combat climate change

The announcement was made on the second day of the biennial summit of the Commonwealth whose membership includes powerful countries like Britain, Australia, Canada, Singapore and small island nations such the Maldives, Tonga and Nauru.
India has announced $2.5 million for the Commonwealth small states trade finance facility. As you are aware, Commonwealth has 31 small states as its members out of the 53 countries and trade finance is very important to them.
The 24th Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting here deliberated extensively on combating climate change and a number of nations pledged their financial assistance to vulnerable countries ahead of the UN Climate Change conference in Paris beginning tomorrow.
India has been pushing for the rich nations to deliver “climate justice” for developing countries while insisting that commitment of the rich nations towards small islands and poor countries must go beyond the current level.
5. Australia wins 1st day-night test by 3 wickets v New Zealand
Australia won the first ever day-night cricket test by 3 wickets against New Zealand , with the tail-ender Peter Siddle ushering the hosts to victory in a dramatic finish under lights.

6. Russia strikes India off its safe travel destinations list
In a second blow to Goa's tourism industry which was already reeling from a reduction in arrivals due to the devaluation of the rouble, India has been struck off the list of safe travel destinations recommended for Russian tourists, according to a report by the Russian news agency INTERFAX.
Amongst the destinations now identified as 'safe' are Cuba, south Vietnam and southern China.
