(1) If the data in statement I alone are sufficient to answer the question, while the data in statement II alone are not sufficient to answer the question.
(2) If the data in statement II alone are sufficient to answer the question, while the data in statement I alone are not sufficient to answer the question.
(3) If either of the data in statement I alone or in statement II alone are sufficient to answer the question.
(4) If the data in both statements I and II together are not sufficient to answer the question.
(5) If the data in both the statement I and II together are necessary to answer the question.



1. What is the value of a two-digit number?
I. The product of the digits is 56 and the difference between the digits is 1.
II. The digit at the unit’s place is greater than the other.

2. What is the speed of the train?
I. The train covers a distance of 215 km in 5 hours.
II. The train covers a distance of 370 km in 8 hours.

3. What is Manoj’s age?
I.  Manoj is five times younger than Rohan.
II. Kishan is thrice the age of Rohan.

4. What is the ratio of the total number of clerks to the total number of officers in a bank?
I.  There are 4500 employees in the bank, out of which 40% are officers.
II. The ratio of the total number of officers to the total number of clerks last year was 6 : 7.

5. What is a number?
I. 55% of that number is three-fifth of that number.
II. One-fourth of that number is more by 35 from one-third of that number.

Answers
1. (5): Both the statements are needed.

2. (3): Either of the statements is sufficient.

3. (4): both the statements A & B together are not sufficient to answer.

4. (1): Only statement I is sufficient but II is not sufficient.

5. (2): Only IInd is sufficient but I is not sufficient
