The Nobel Peace Prize for the year 2015 announced. Tunisian National Dialogue Quartet has been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for its role in helping the country's transition to democracy. Kaci Kullmann Five, the newly appointed chairman of the Norwegian Nobel committee has announced this prize in Oslo today. 

The prize is 8 million Swedish kronor (around $975,000).

About  Tunisian National Dialogue Quartet

The Tunisian National Dialogue Quartet is a group of four organizations that were central in the
attempts to build a pluralistic democracy in Tunisia in the wake of the Jasmine Revolution of 2011. It played a key role in mediating between the different parties in the country's post-Arab Spring government.

The National Dialogue Quartet is made up of 4 Organizations. They are,

  • The Tunisian General Labour Union (UGTT, Union Générale Tunisienne du Travail)
  • The Tunisian Confederation of Industry, Trade and Handicrafts (UTICA, Union Tunisienne de l’Industrie, du Commerce et de l’Artisanat)
  • The Tunisian Human Rights League (LTDH, La Ligue Tunisienne pour la Défense des Droits de l’Homme)
  • The Tunisian Order of Lawyers (Ordre National des Avocats de Tunisie).
Last year, Nobel Peace Prize 2014 was jointly awarded to Indian rights activist Kailash Satyarthy and Pakistan's Malala Yusafzai.
Peace Prize was the fifth of this year's Nobel prizes. The Nobel prizes in Medicine , PhysicsChemistry  and Literature 2015 were already announced. The Nobel Prizes 2015 for economic sciences will be announced on 12th October 2015.
