The first theatrical trailer for Zoya Akhtar's hotly anticipated upcoming film, 'Dil Dhadakne Do', went live on Wednesday evening. The nearly-three-minute video was uploaded on producer Excel Entertainment's YouTube channel.
The film boasts of an impressive ensemble cast that includes Anil Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, Priyanka Chopra, Anushka Sharma, Farhan Akhtar, Shefali Shah, and Rahul Bose. The trailer promises a quirky, bittersweet dramedy centered around family dysfunction and multiple, concurrent relationships. A significant portion of the film seems to be set on a 10-day cruise between Turkey and Greece, to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Mehras (played by Anil Kapoor and Shefali Shah). Their two children have issues with marriage — the single, wayward son (Ranveer Singh) doesn't take the institution seriously while the already-married daughter (Priyanka Chopra) wants to get a divorce.
Peppered with a number of scenes aimed at generating big laughs, the 'Dil Dhadakne Do' trailer treads familiar territory (and, perhaps, reveals a little too much) but, still, looks eminently watchable. The film releases in theatres on June 5.
