HTC Launches M9+, One E9+, Desire 326G In India

April 15, 2015

NEW DELHI: Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer HTC announced three devices for the Indian market on Tuesday. The launch includes its premium 4G smartphone M9 Plus, priced at Rs 52,500, which will be available from May.

The plus-sized smartphone takes a lot of design cues from the M9, and improves up on it with a 5.2-inch 2K resolution (1440x2560 pixels) display, duo cameras, and HTC BoomSound with Dolby surround sound.

The M9 Plus is powered by the MediaTek Helio X10 core processor, 3 GB of RAM, and a non-removable 2840 mAh Li-Po battery. The phone is fitted with Duo Cameras, first seen in the One M8. The secondary sensor fitted on the back captures depth information, which provides an additional layer of information while editing photos.

The other two smartphones launched include the One M9+, a 5.5-inch dual SIM smartphone powered by a Mediatek Octa-core processor, 2 GB of RAM and non-removable 2800 mAh battery. One big difference between the M9+ and the E9+ is the plastic body on the latter.

The Desire 326G is mid-range device, with a 4.5-inch HD display, quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM, and 32 GB of storage.

The company said that it will expand 4G handset portfolio with models likely to be priced below Rs 20,000 this year.

"The M9 Plus will be available in India for Rs 52,500. It will be available next month. We are close to our target of 7 per cent sales volumes in India and expect to reach 10 per cent by end of this year," HTC President of Global Sales and Chief Financial Officer Chia-Lin Chang said here.

He said that company will expand product portfolio to comfortably achieve the 10 per cent market share.

"We are planning to come up with more 4G smartphones which are likely to be priced below Rs 20,000. In addition, we hope to bring our wearable devices in India," Chang said.

When asked about HTC's strategy to raise sales in India where low-cost sets are running out of stock in few minutes, Chang said, "We don't do opportunistic sales tactics. We want to be looked as stable brand. If we create demand we should be able to meet the demand and ensure good after sales service."

The company also announced insurance plan for its phones, HTC Advantage, which will cover accidental and liquid damage, provide free pick and drop facility in case of complaints.

HTC South Asia and India President Faisal Siddiqui said that the company will start selling HTC One E9 and HTC Desire 326 G in second half of May and prices of these devices will be shared close to their launch time.
