Vocabulary is an important part of English that helps you deal with all kinds of questions in objective as well as descriptive papers of various exams. In the recently concluded Banking Exams, we witnessed that a major part of the exam was based on vocabulary. Many questions were vocab based and we can expect the same in the upcoming exams. It becomes very important to learn ample amount of words for the upcoming Government Job Exams. You can learn new words daily from our Daily Word List . Here is a list of words from daily Editorials. Learn the words and make your own sentences on the basis of the given word list.

1. Placate (Verb) : सांत्वना देना
Meaning: make (someone) less angry or hostile.
Synonym: appease, assuage, conciliate,pacify
Antonym: aggravate, annoy, antagonize, bother,provoke
Example: The police officer tried to placate the two scared drivers at the scene of the accident.

2. Regale (Verb) : प्रसन्न करना
Meaning: entertain or amuse (someone) with talk.
Synonym: entertain, amuse, divert, delight, fascinate
Antonym: anger, annoy, bore, dull, tire, upset
Example: On the ghost tour, an experienced guide will regale you with scary stories of the house’s past residents.

3. Contrite (Adjective) : मनोव्यथित
Meaning: feeling or expressing remorse at the recognition that one has done wrong.
Synonym: remorseful, repentant, penitent, regretful
Antonym: unrepentant, defiant
Example:  She must be humble and contrite.

4. Wither (Verb) : कुम्हलाना
Meaning: fall into decay or decline
Synonym: diminish, dwindle, shrink, lessen, fade
Antonym: grow
Example: Words to express her feelings seemed to wither and die inside her.

5. Pernicious (Adjective) : हानिकारक
Meaning: having a harmful effect, especially in a gradual or subtle way.
Synonym: harmful, damaging, destructive, injurious
Antonym: beneficial, benign, favourable
Example: If you are going to behave in such a pernicious manner, I would prefer to not be around you.

6. Abdicate (Verb) : त्यागना
Meaning: (of a monarch) renounce one's throne.
Synonyms: resign, retire
Example: Because the mother chose to abdicate her role as a parent, her children have become the terrors of the neighborhood.

7. Credulous (Adjective) : विश्वास प्रवणता
Meaning: having or showing too great a readiness to believe things.
Synonym: gullible, naive, impressionable, trusting,
Antonym: worldly, suspicious
Example: When she was younger, my baby sister was incredibly credulous and fell for all my tricks.

8. Copious (Adjective) : प्रचुर
Meaning: abundant in supply or quantity.
Synonym: abundant, ample, extensive
Antonym: lacking, meager, rare
Example: The storm produced a copious amount of rain.

9. Spurious (Adjective) : बनावटी
Meaning: not being what it purports to be; false or fake.
Synonym: specious, false, counterfeit, fraudulent
Antonym: authentic, genuine, real
Example: The con artist made a spurious claim about being a member of the royal family.

10. Usurp (Verb) : हड़पना
Meaning: take (a position of power or importance) illegally or by force.
Synonym: seize, take over, expropriate, wrest
Antonym: release, relinquish
Example: After the king dies, his brother will usurp the throne from the prince.
