Vocabulary is an important part of English that helps you deal with all kinds of questions in objective as well as descriptive papers of various exams. In the recently concluded Banking Exams, we witnessed that a major part of the exam was based on vocabulary. Many questions were vocab based and we can expect the same in the upcoming exams. 1. ABDICATE : पूरा करने या शुरू करने में विफल
Meaning: fail to fulfil or undertake (a responsibility or duty).
Synonyms: disown, reject, spurn, renounce
Antonyms: accept
Example: The young prince became king after his older brother decided to abdicate the throne.

2. RECONCILE : मेल-मिलाप कराना
Meaning: restore friendly relations between.
Synonyms: reunite, pacify, appease, mollify
Antonyms: estrange, alienate
Example: Bill’s plan was to reconcile with his estranged brother whom he had not spoken to in seven years.

3. PETULANCE : ढिठाई
Meaning: the quality of being childishly sulky or bad-tempered.
Synonyms: bitterness, cynicism, irritability
Example: Symptoms of migraines include pain, blurred vision, and petulance.

4. FIDGETY : बेचैन
Meaning: inclined to fidget; restless or uneasy.
Synonyms: restless, uneasy, agitated, quivering
Antonyms: calm, still
Example: Even though she tried to control her body, the fidgety toddler couldn’t be still during story time.

5. IMPUISSANT : कमजोर
Meaning: unable to take effective action; powerless.
Synonyms: helpless, inadequate, incapable, powerless
Antonyms: able, capable, competent, potent
Example: A flu-like illness left the once strong general impuissant and unable to lead his soldiers into battle.

6. PLACATE : शांत करना
Meaning: make (someone) less angry or hostile.
Synonyms: pacify, calm, appease, mollify
Antonyms: provoke, anger
Example: The president knew he would have to placate the voting public by firing his adviser.

7. UNDERLAY : बुनियाद
Meaning: place something under (something else), especially to support or raise it.
Synonyms: control, determine, manage, regulate
Antonyms: abandon, liberate mismanage, neglect
Example: Construction workers will underlay a support beam beneath the drooping floor in an effort to make it more secure.

8. ANGUISH : पीड़ा
Meaning: severe mental or physical pain or suffering.
Synonyms: agony, pain, distress, suffering
Antonyms: happiness, contentment
Example: After Jacob was shot, he endured a great deal of pain and anguish.

9. DISPARAGE : उपेक्षा करना
Meaning: regard or represent as being of little worth.
Synonyms: belittle, denigrate, deprecate, depreciate
Antonyms: praise, overrate, complimentary
Example: As a middle school teacher, I witness students verbally disparage each other on a daily basis.

10. DEMEAN : नीचा दिखाना
Meaning: cause a severe loss in the dignity of and respect for (someone or something).
Synonyms: degrading, humiliating, inglorious, abject
Antonyms: admire, elevate, honor, laud
Example: People often use racial slurs to demean individuals they view as different.
