Q1. The average age of Sandeep and Abhishek is 18 years. If Neha replaces Abhishek, the average age is increased by 1 and when Abhishek replaces Sandeep the average age becomes 17 years. What is the age of Neha?

Q2. The average age of three members father, Son and daughter of a family is 26 years. The ratio of their present ages is 15 : 6 : 5. Find the difference between age of father and son.

Solution:
Let the present ages of father, son and daughter are 15x, 6x and 5x years respectively.
∴ 26x = 26×3
⇒x=3
Required difference = 45 – 18 = 27 years

Q3. A bag contains 4 red flags, 5 blue flags and some black flags if Probability of selecting a red flag is 1/4. Then find the number of black flags.

Solution:
Probability of selecting a Red flag is 1/4
Now, 1 → 4 flags
So, 4 → 16 flags
So, no. of black flags = 16 – (4 + 5)
= 7

Q4. The average of present age of A and B is 26 years if present age of C is also included their average age increases by 2 years. Find the ratio of ages of A to C.

Present age of A and B = 26 × 2 = 52 
A + B = 52 …(i)
Present age of A, B and C = 3 × (26 + 2) = 84
