Dear Students,
Q1. If two pipes work simultaneously, a tank is filled in 12 hours. One pipe fills the tank 10 hours faster than the other. How many hours does the faster pipe alone take to fill the tank?
Q2. Two trains start at the same time from position 1st and 2nd towards each other and after crossing each other, they take 9 hours and 4 hours in reaching at positions 2nd and 1st, respectively. Find the ratio of speeds of the train starting from 1st position to that of the 2nd position train.

Numerical Ability or Quantitative Aptitude Section has given heebie-jeebies to the aspirants when they appear for a banking examination. As the level of every other section is only getting complex and convoluted, there is no doubt that this section, too, makes your blood run cold. The questions asked in this section are calculative and very time-consuming. But once dealt with proper strategy, speed, and accuracy, this section can get you the maximum marks in the examination. Following is the Quantitative Aptitude quiz to help you practice with the best of latest pattern questions.

Q1. If two pipes work simultaneously, a tank is filled in 12 hours. One pipe fills the tank 10 hours faster than the other. How many hours does the faster pipe alone take to fill the tank?
15 hours
18 hours
20 hours
12 hours
14 hours
Solution:
Faster Pipe = x hours → x + 10 unit per hour
Slower pipe = x + 10 hours → x unit per hour
According to question,
12(x+10)+12x = x (x+10)
x = 20
So, faster pipe alone takes 20 hours to fill the tank.
Slower pipe = x + 10 hours → x unit per hour
According to question,
12(x+10)+12x = x (x+10)
x = 20
So, faster pipe alone takes 20 hours to fill the tank.
Q2. Two trains start at the same time from position 1st and 2nd towards each other and after crossing each other, they take 9 hours and 4 hours in reaching at positions 2nd and 1st, respectively. Find the ratio of speeds of the train starting from 1st position to that of the 2nd position train.
