➤ Udyam Sakhi Portal Launched for Women Entrepreneurs

i. On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) launched a portal for women entrepreneurs of India: www.udyamsakhi.org.

International Women’s Day is celebrated on 8th March.

➤ NITI Aayog Launches Women Entrepreneurship Platform

i. NITI Aayog launched the Women Entrepreneurship Platform (WEP), on the occasion of International Women’s Day.

ii. CEO, NITI Aayog, Amitabh Kant, launched the WEP platform at NITI Aayog premises in New Delhi.

iii. The WEP theme song “Naari Shakti” composed and sung by Shri Kailash Kher was released on this occasion.

➤ PM Launches National Nutrition Mission and Pan India Expansion of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao

i. On the occasion of International Women’s Day, PM Narendra Modi launched the National Nutrition Mission (NNM) and Pan India Expansion of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) covering all 640 districts of the Country at a mega event held at Jhunjhunu in Rajasthan.

ii. NNM has been set up with a three year budget of Rs.9046.17 crore commencing from 2017-18. The NNM is a comprehensive approach towards raising nutrition level in the country on a war footing.

➤ Architect BV Doshi Becomes 1st Indian to Win Pritzker Prize

i. Architect Balkrishna Vithaldas Doshi has become the first Indian to win the Pritzker Prize, the highest award in architecture.

ii. Doshi's most noted works include a low-cost housing project in Indore which accommodates 80,000 people. The award was announced by Tom Pritzker of the Chicago-based Hyatt Foundation.

➤ Government Launches Biodegradable Sanitary Pads 'Suvidha'

i. The government launched a biodegradable sanitary pad 'Suvidha' to mark International Women's Day. The oxo-biodegradable sanitary pads priced at Rs. 2.50 per pad will be available at Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi centres.

ii. The biodegradable pad will ensure 'Swachhta, Swasthya and Suvidha' for the underprivileged women.
