Hai Friends I'm Kani. Here I'm sharing English Vocabulary from Editorial section of The Hindu News Paper dated 25th December 2017. Happy reading :)

  • Fodder - food that is given to cows, horses, and other farm animals
  • Jolt - an unpleasant shock or surprise
  • Conviction - the fact of officially being found to be guilty of a particular crime
  • Hounding - chasing someone or to refuse to leave someone alone
  • Conspiracy - the activity of secretly planning with other people to do something bad or illegal
  • Fraudulently - dishonestly and illegally
  • Treasury - the government department that is responsible for financial matters such as spending and tax
  • Livestock - animals and birds that are kept on a farm, such as cows, sheep, or chickens
  • Violate - to break or act against something, especially a law, agreement, principle, or something that should be treated with respect
  • Jeopardy - in danger of being damaged or destroyed
  • Embezzlement - to secretly take money that is in your care or that belongs to an organization or business you work for
  • Overarching - most important, because of including or affecting all other areas
  • Exonerate - to show or state that someone or something is not guilty of something
  • Fortune - chance and the way it affects your life
  • Fluctuating - to change frequently
  • Alliance - a group of countries, political parties, or people who have agreed to work together because of shared interests or aims
  • Short-lived - lasting for a short period of time
  • Allegation - a statement, made without giving proof, that someone has done something wrong or illegal
  • Rupture - to (cause something to) explode, break, or tear
  • Quid pro quo - something that is given to a person in return for something they have done
  • Game-changing - affecting the result of a game very much
  • Perceive - to understand or think about something in a particular way
  • Bulwark - something that protects you from dangerous or unpleasant situations
  • Murky - used to describe a situation that is complicated and unpleasant
  • Bleak - without any reasons to feel happy or hopeful
  • Oblivion - the state of being completely forgotten
  • Exceptional - much greater than usual, especially in skill, intelligence, quality, etc
  • Wrap something up - to complete something successfully
  • Spectacularly - in a very beautiful way that people admire
  • Statistically - related to a group of numbers that represent facts or that describe a situation
  • Conquer - to gain control of a situation or emotion by making a great physical or mental effort
  • Merely - only / just
  • Consolidate - to become, or cause something to become, stronger, and more certain
  • Bullied - to hurt or frighten someone
  • Blip - a temporary change that does not have any special meaning
  • Unravel - begin to fail
  • Feisty - active, forceful, and full of determination
  • Inevitability - the quality of being certain to happen
  • Adversary - an enemy
  • Ruthlessly - not thinking or worrying about any pain caused to others; cruelly
  • Glowering - looking very angry
  • Breach - if you step into the breach, you do someone else's work when they are unable to do it
  • Subtle - small but important
  • Invariably - always, or almost always
  • Discordant - not matching other things and therefore strange or unpleasant
  • Harmonious - friendly and peaceful
  • Controversy - a disagreement, especially about a public policy or a moral issue that a lot of people have strong feelings about
  • Derail - to prevent something from continuing in the way that it was planned
  • Robust - strong and successful
  • Fertile - able to produce good ideas or results
  • Flourish - to be very successful
  • Thrust - to put something somewhere with a quick hard push
  • Empowering - to give someone more control over their life or more power to do something
  • Smitten - seriously affected by something
  • On the same page -  to understand and agree with what is being done or suggested
  • Significant -  very important
  • Sobering thought - making you think about things in a serious way
  • Fissure - a long deep crack in something, especially the ground
  • Fault line - a crack on the Earth’s surface / a problem that may not be obvious and could cause something to fail
