- Seize - to quickly take something in your hand
- Cease - to stop something
- Probe - an attempt to find out the truth about an issue, problem, or accident
- Surcharge - an additional amount of money that you must pay for something over the usual price
- Hue - a colour
- Integral - necessary and important as a part of a whole
- Brazen - behaving in a way that is not moral or socially acceptable, and not caring if other people are shocked or offended
- Abuse - the use of something in a bad, dishonest, or harmful way
- Enforcement - the process of making sure that something happens, especially that people obey a law or rule
- Instance - an example of something happening
- Curiously - in an unusual and interesting way
- Insistent - saying very firmly that something must happen or that something is true
- Revere - to have a lot of respect and admiration for someone or something
- Denounce - to criticize someone or something severely in public
- Inheritor - a person who has been given something by someone who is dead
- Undermine - to make something or someone become gradually less effective, confident, or successful
- Assault - a physical attack on someone, or the crime of physically attacking someone
- Credibility - qualities that someone has that make people believe or trust them
- Hinges on something - if one thing hinges on another, the first thing depends on the second thing or is very influenced by it
- Cracking down - to start dealing with someone or something much more strictly
- Unearth - to discover something or someone that was not known before or that people had kept secret, especially by searching very thoroughly
- Disproportionate - if something is disproportionate, it is bigger or smaller than it should be in comparison to something else
- Confidant - someone who you trust and can discuss your secrets and private feelings with
- Wary - careful or nervous about someone or something because you think they might cause a problem
- Impact - an effect, or an influence
- Consequence - a result or effect of something
- Toehold - a small or unimportant position in a place, organization, or activity that you hope will help you to get a better one

- Abandon - left empty or no longer used

- Negotiate - to try to reach an agreement by discussing something in a formal way, especially in a business or political situation
- Comprehensive - including many details or aspects of something
- Progressive - supporting social and political change that aims to make a system fairer
- Ratification - the action of signing or giving formal consent to a treaty, contract, or agreement, making it officially valid
- Multilateral - involving three or more groups, especially the governments of three or more countries
- Contrary - the opposite
- Misgiving - a feeling of fear or doubt about whether something is right or will have a good result
- Significant - very important
- Minor - not very important
- Interpret - to understand an action, situation etc in a particular way
- Diminish - to make something become less
- Accord - a formal agreement between countries or groups
- Repudiation - to refuse to accept something or someone as true, good, or reasonable
- Negotiate - to try to reach an agreement by discussing something in a formal way, especially in a business or political situation
- Treaty - an official written agreement between two or more countries
- Long-standing - having existed for a long time
- Populist - representing the interests and opinions of ordinary people
- Abandonment - to leave someone / something
- Repudiation - rejection of a proposal or idea
- Exceptionalism - the idea that a person, country or political system can be allowed to be different from, and perhaps better than, others
- Rhetoric - a style of speaking or writing that is intended to influence people
- Fuel - to make something increase or become worse, especially something unpleasant
- Campaign - a series of actions intended to produce political or social change
- Populism - politics that represents the interests and opinions of ordinary people
- Reliability - the quality of being reliable
- Ironically - in a way that is different or opposite from the result you would expect
