1.Galvanize (verb)-चौंकाना या प्रेरित करना 
Meaning: shock or excite (someone) into taking action.
Synonyms: jolt, shock, startle, impel, stir, spur, prod, urge, motivate, stimulate, electrify, excite, rouse, arouse, awaken, invigorate, fire, fuel, animate, vitalize, energize, exhilarate. 
Example: With India’s economic growth faltering in the last couple of years, the government has been casting about for ways to galvanise the economy.

2.Callous (adjective)-कठोर/निर्दयी 
Meaning: showing or having an insensitive and cruel disregard for others.
Synonyms: heartless, unfeeling, uncaring, cold, cold-hearted, hard, as hard as nails, hard-hearted, with a heart of stone, stony-hearted, insensitive, lacking compassion, hard-bitten, cold-blooded, 
Example: This is another addition to a long list of mass exclusions that a callous state claims as “savings”.

3.Fracas (noun)-कोलाहल/शोर -गुल 
Meaning: a noisy disturbance or quarrel.
Synonyms: disturbance, quarrel, scuffle, brawl, affray, tussle, melee, free-for-all, fight, clash, skirmish, brouhaha, riot, uproar, commotion. 
Example: The fracas over the Gujarat poll dates has been unedifying. The Election Commission of India (ECI) has done itself no favours.

4.Disgruntlement (noun)-असंतोष
Meaning: a feeling of sulky discontent
Example: Given the circumstances, opposition disgruntlement is understandable. But there is a significant—if semantically small—gap between such displeasure and accusing the ECI of actively colluding with the BJP, as the Congress has done.

5.Confrontational (adjective)-टकराव
Meaning: tending to deal with situations in an aggressive way; hostile or argumentative.
Example: His activism was also, however, partly to the bad. There was more than a whiff of his being enamoured of his own legend in his confrontational approach. 

6.Egregious (adjective)-प्रबल/विशिष्ट 
Meaning: remarkably good, shocking.
Example: The ECI is still a work in progress. It has stumbled badly at times. The ugly spat in 2009 between then CEC N. Gopalaswami and EC Navin Chawla, with the former recommending the latter’s removal on grounds of partisanship, damaged the institution’s credibility. And its seeking contempt powers earlier this year was an egregious overstepping of bounds worthy of Seshan. 

7.Remittance (noun)-प्रेषण
Meaning: a sum of money sent in payment or as a gift, the action of sending money in payment or as a gift.
Synonyms: payment, settlement, money, fee.
Example: These questions usually revolve around topics like literacy, diaspora, the remittance economy and so on. 

8.Tout (verb)-दलाल 
Meaning: attempt to sell (something), typically by a direct or persistent approach, offer racing tips for a share of any resulting winnings.
Example: Globalization is getting very bad press in industrialized countries. From being touted aggressively only 10 years ago as a “win-win” development for all, it is now blamed for these economies’ ills. 

9.Repudiate (verb)-परित्याग करना
Meaning: refuse to accept; reject.
Synonyms: reject, renounce, abandon, forswear, give up, turn one's back on, have nothing more to do with, wash one's hands of, have no more truck with, abjure, disavow, recant. 
Example: Brexit is an example of repudiating a treaty in order to restrict European immigration. There is opposition to non-European immigration in many European countries.

10.Backlash (noun)-प्रतिक्रिया/फिसलना/पिछला बकाया  
Meaning: a strong negative reaction by a large number of people, especially to a social or political development.
Synonyms: adverse reaction/response, counteraction, counterblast, comeback, recoil. 
Example: The anti-globalization backlash in the West must not be allowed to swamp the recognition that globalization has been good for developing countries.
