Labour Party leader Jacinda Ardern has been named the next Prime Minister of New Zealand. She is going to replace Bill English who took the office on 12th December 2017.
Ardern was first elected to parliament as a list MP at the 2008 general election and has been the MP for Mount Albert since 8 March 2017.
Ardern will be New Zealand's third woman Prime Minister, after Jenny Shipley and Helen Clark. It is the first time that a party without the highest vote share has formed the government.
Ardern, who was born on 26th July 1980, also becomes New Zealand’s youngest prime minister for 150 years.
