Ministry of Culture Organizes 'Sankalp Se Siddhi Program' in Coimbatore


i. To take forward the initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a New India movement from 2017-2022, a  Sankalp Se Siddhi  (Attainment through Resolve)  Program was organized at Coimbatore.

Environment Minister Launches ‘Gaj Yatra’ to Mark World Elephant Day 2017

i. Union Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister, Dr. Harsh Vardhan, launched ‘Gaj Yatra’ in Karnataka, a nationwide campaign to protect elephants on the occasion of World Elephant Day (12 August). The campaign is planned to cover 12 elephant range states.
ii. The Environment Minister released the All India Census 2017 Report on elephants. The ‘Gaju’ mascot, which was released by the Ministry in 2012, will be helm the campaign. The campaign will be led by the Wildlife Trust of India. Actor and wildlife enthusiast, Ms. Dia Mirza, participated in the walk and run event organized on the occasion.

Home Minister launches live twitter wall on ‘Bharat Ke Veer’

i. Home Minister Rajnath Singh has launched the live twitter wall for promoting Bharat Ke Veer portal on the eve of 71st Independence Day. On the occasion, Mr. Singh and Ministers of State for Home Affairs Hansraj Gangaram Ahir and Kiren Rijiju contributed their one month salary for Bharat Ke Veer corpus. 
ii. Mr. Singh has handed over a cheque of 1.59 lakh rupees to the Union Home Secretary Rajiv Mehrishi in New Delhi. 

Important :-
  • Bharat Ke Veer portal was launched by Rajnath Singh and actor Akshay Kumar in April 2017.
  • ‘Bharat Ke Veer’ portal aims to facilitate online donation directly to the families of paramilitary troopers who have sacrificed their lives for the country in the line of duty from January 1, 2016.
  • Rajnath Singh is a Lok Sabha MP from Lucknow Constituency, Uttar Pradesh.
  • Bharat Ke Veer portal is technically supported by National Informatics Centre (NIC) and powered by State Bank of India.


PM launches website to honour gallantry award winners

i. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched a website to honour all the gallantry award winners since Independence. The portal will preserve and tell the stories of bravest men and women, civilians as well as armed forces personnel.
ii. In remembrance of heroes who have been awarded gallantry awards since Independence, launched the site http://gallantryawards.gov.in. PM also welcomed citizens’ participation in the process.



India Opens First Partition Museum in Amritsar

i. India's first museum on Partition of the Indian subcontinent will open this week in Amritsar Punjab, as India and Pakistan celebrate 70 years as independent nations.
ii. The museum will include photographs, newspaper clippings, donated personal items, and screens showing video interviews with survivors.
iii. It will also have 'The Gallery of Hope', where visitors can scribble messages of love and peace. Tickets are priced low at Rs10 for Indians and Rs150 for foreigners.
