- Benefit of doubt - to treat someone as if their behaviour is honest or correct, even though you are not certain that it is
- Probe - an attempt to find out the truth about an issue
- Trial - process of examining a case in a court of law and deciding whether someone is guilty or innocent
- Verdict - an official judgment made in a court
- Acquit - to state officially that someone is not guilty of the crime they were accused of
- Domestic worker - a person who is paid to help with cleaning and other tasks in a person's home
- Merely - used for emphasizing that something is small or unimportant
- Indictment - an official statement accusing someone of committing a serious crime, or the document with which this is done
- Bureau - an organization that provides information or services
- Shoddy - very low standard
- Probity - a very moral and honest way of behaving
- Plant - to put someone or something in a particular place or position
- Circumstance - conditions that make a bad action or mistake seem less serious, sometimes even making it seem reasonable
- Clinching - to manage to win or achieve something by doing one final thing that makes it certain
- Fateful - a fateful action, event, or time is one that has an important and usually bad effect on what happens in the future
- See-saw - a situation that keeps changing
- Dentist - someone whose job is to examine and treat people’s teeth
- In tatters - in very bad condition
- Vast - extremely large
- Gulf - a large and important difference between people or groups
- Perception - a particular way of understanding or thinking about something
- Lamentably - so bad that you feel disappointed or angry
- Exemplify - to be a typical example of something
- Speculative - based on guesses or on a little information, not on facts
- Frenzy - a state of uncontrolled activity or emotion
- Sympathising - to behave in a kind way and show that you understand someone’s problems

- Implicating - to show or suggest that someone is involved in something illegal or morally wrong
- Typographical - relating to the way in which a document has been printed
- Appellate - relating to a legal appeal
- Scrutiny - careful examination of someone or something
- Acquittal - an official judgment in a court of law that someone is not guilty of the crime they were accused of
- Accused - a specific person that is accused of a crime in a court of law
- Vindicate - to prove that someone who was accused of a crime or dishonest act is not guilty
- Culprit - someone who is responsible for doing something bad or illegal
- Nail - to catch someone

- Dissident - someone who disagrees publicly with the policy of an organization they belong to, especially a political party
- Rebel - someone who tries to remove a government or leader using force

- Proactive - taking action and making changes before they need to be made, rather than waiting until problems develop

- Revival - the process of becoming active, successful, or popular again
- Indices - a plural of index
- Well-being - the satisfactory state that someone or something should be in
- Successive - coming or happening one after another in a series
- Vital - very important, necessary, or essential
- Lingering - lasting for a long time, especially when this is unpleasant or not necessary
- Demonetisation - to officially stop using particular notes or coins, or a particular currency
- Teething issues - minor problems that a new company, project, product etc may have in the beginning
- Regime - a system of rules that control something
- Disgruntlement - disappointment
- Patronage - help or money that is given to a person or organization
- Plaguing - to cause a lot of problems for someone or something for a long period of time
- Incumbent - someone who has an official position
- Misgiving - a feeling of fear or doubt about whether something is right or will have a good result
