Madadgaar Helpline
➜ The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), deployed in the Kashmir valley, has launched a helpline, “Madadgaar”, with a toll-free number 14411, the first of its kind in the Valley which has already started getting distressed calls.

Increased Room Tariff
➜ The Goods and Services Tax (GST) Council at its 17th meeting decided to increase the room tariff threshold, above which the luxury rate of 28% will apply, to Rs.Rs.7,500 from the Rs. 5,000 decided earlier.

Tele-Law Initiative➜ With an aim to make legal aid easily accessible to the marginalised communities and citizens living in rural areas, the government has launched the ‘Tele-Law’ initiative of the Ministry of Law and Justice partnered with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology

Fourth Human Library in Delhi
➜ Delhi will be the fourth city to host the human library community in India after Indore, Hyderabad and Mumbai.

Thermal Power Project in Mounda
➜ State-run power giant NTPC has energised 150 kWp canal top solar PV System on cooling water (CW) channel inside power station premises at its 2,320 MW, Mouda Thermal Power Project, near Nagpur in Maharashtra.

India's biggest refinery at Ratnagiri 
➜ State-owned oil firms IOC, BPCL and HPCL signed an agreement to jointly set up India's biggest refinery at Ratnagiri district of Maharashtra at a cost of USD 30 billion or Rs. 2 lakh crore.
➜ Indian Oil Corp (IOC) will be the lead partner with 50 per cent stake while Hindustan Petroleum Corp Ltd (HPCL) and Bharat Petroleum Corp Ltd (BPCL) will take 25 per cent stake each.

Intensified Diarrhea Control Fortnight 
➜ The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has launched the Intensified Diarrhea Control Fortnight (IDCF) in order to intensify efforts to reduce child deaths due to diarrhoea.

Financial Resolution and Deposit Insurance Bill, 2017
➜ The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has approved the proposal to introduce a Financial Resolution and Deposit Insurance Bill, 2017.

➜ The Bill would provide for a comprehensive resolution framework for specified financial sector entities to deal with bankruptcy situation in banks, insurance companies and financial sector entities.

Revision of Base Year
➜ The Statistics Ministry is set to change the base year of national accounts to 2017-18 from 2011-12 after completion of the household consumer expenditure survey and labour force data by the end of 2018.

➜ Sulabh International founder and chief Bindeshwar Pathak has announced that an open defecation-free (ODF) village in Mewat will be named after the US President Donald Trump.

Interest Subvention Scheme

➜ Farmers will continue to get short-term farm loans up to Rs. 3 lakh at an interest rate of 4 per cent as the Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved an interest subvention scheme and earmarked a sum of Rs. 20,339 crore for it.
