Manipur Assembly clears GST Bill

The Manipur Assembly on Monday passed the Manipur Goods and Sales Tax Bill, 2017.Finance Minister Yumnam Joykumar said the Bill would ensure price uniformity and would not lead to an increase in prices.

The single-woman pension scheme, launched by Telangana government
Telangana government has recently launched the single-women pensions scheme across the state. Single women will be given Rs 1,000 per month. It is the first such scheme in India.The government had also increased the Kalyana Laxmi and Shaadi Mubarak scheme amount from Rs 50,116 to Rs75,116. Children of single women would be admitted into all Telangana Residential Educational Institutions without having to write an examination or waiting for the lottery system. The beneficiaries would get the pension in their bank accounts every month.
Clean Campus, Green Campus, Smart Campus competition for students in colleges and universities
Union Human Resource Development Minister Prakash Javadekar on Monday unveiled the Clean Campus, Green Campus, Smart Campus competition for students in colleges and universities across the country on the occasion of World Environment Day. The contest challenges students to make their campuses eco-friendly by planting trees, conserving water and energy, and implementing sustainable waste management projects. “The objective is to make campuses across the country green and sustainable”.
MyCall a new app launched by TRAI for users to rate their call quality
Telecom regulator TRAI on Monday introduced a new app — MyCall — that enables subscribers to rate the quality of a phone call. “The application will help mobile phone users rate their experience about voice call quality in real-time and help TRAI gather customer experience data along with network data,” the regulator said in a statement. After a call ends, a pop-up will appear requesting the user to rate the call. Two more apps launched by TRAI is Myspeed App and Do Not Disturb.

Greenpeace India launched solar comet, a bus to showcase solar power
On the occasion of World Environment Day on Monday, Greenpeace India flagged off a ‘solar bus’ to raise awareness about solar energy and how it can easily power an entire household. Called the Solar Comet, the bus has solar panels installed on the roof that power energy-efficient LED bulbs, mobile charging points, a mixer-grinder, a refrigerator, an air cooler and an air-conditioner that have been fitted inside the bus.
Agreement between NSDC and Bird Academy for skilling of unemployed youth
National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and Bird Academy have signed an MoU to skill more than 30 thousand unemployed youth from across states in the aviation and aerospace sectors. NSDC and Bird Academy will set up training centres. The centres will be set up in Chandigarh, Delhi, Cochin, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Goa and other locations.
MGNREGA national award for Vizianagaram
The Ministry of Rural Development has selected Vizianagaram district in Andhra Pradesh as one among the 17 districts across the nation for the MGNREGA annual award for effective implementation of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee (MGNREGA) Act during 2015-16.

Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba is the only candidate for the premiership.Election for new prime minister is being held due to resignation by the CPN (Maoist Centre) Chief Pushpa Kamal Dahal. He had resigned from the post of prime minister on May 24 as per the power sharing understanding with the coalition partner Nepali Congress.
Ramkumar Ramanathan lifts ITF men's Futures tennis title
India's Ramkumar Ramanathan lifted the ITF men's Futures tennis title after outplaying Raymond Sarmiento of the USA in straight sets in Singapore. The top seeded Indian beat the second seeded player 6-2, 6-2 in the final of event last night. It was the first title of the season for Ramkumar.
