May 30, 2017

Reasoning is all about the presence of mind and your abilities to infer information. Everyone can solve questions of reasoning but the task is to solve them within a stipulated time which might actually seem less than what is required. Here comes into play a selective approach and exhaustive practice to deal with those long and twisted puzzles and seating arrangement.
You might find solace with direction sense, blood relation and the entire miscellaneous portion as it is quite interesting and engrossing for a learner of every stage but all in reasoning is not a rosy and exuberant to deal with. Well at this stage you might get a hint of what we will be discussing about in through this article, yes! Indeed the Logical Reasoning part.
Logical reasoning tests (also known as critical reasoning tests) are designed to assess a candidate's ability at skills such as how to interpret information, sequences or the relationships between the given facts. Verbal Logical Reasoning is a hot topic in Mains level examination of banking and insurance recruitment. You can expect that in upcoming SBI PO Mains too. Verbal logic tests usually consist of a series of questions based on short passages called stimuli. Each stimulus takes the form of an argument - a conclusion based on evidence. You will need to understand the stimulus to answer the questions based on it. Common types of questions include weakening, strengthening, assumption, main point, inference, and parallel logic.
Logical reasoning questions can be clubbed into various categories such as Blood Relations, Selection and Conditionals, Sets based on grouping and patterns, Mapping, Direction sense,  and most importantly based on trending topics of the time.
  • Be careful while reading the question and instructions.
  • Although logical reasoning requires you to apply the direct logic or infer information but do not assume anything on your own. You must infer information only from the data that is provided to you in the question.
  • A valid conclusion must definitely go along or follow the statements that you are provided with.
  • Look at one rule at a time. There may be extraneous data within the question, which is designed to confuse you. Focusing on a single aspect can help you work out what is important and what's not.
  • Pay heed to words like "all," "some," or "none" when you read the factual information each question gives you. Other qualifying words such as "other than," "only" or "unless" are important, too.
  • Keep a track of time, don’t get too engrossed. Feel free to skip and move on to next topic/question if it is killing your time with a vague result.
