Rajnath to inaugurate two important mobile apps; MHA Grievances Redressal App& BSFMyApp

Home Minister Rajnath Singh will inaugurate two important mobile applications MHA Grievances Redressal App and BSFMyApp at New Delhi today. All the Paramilitary Force jawans and BSF personnel will be able to raise their problems on BSFMyApp. These problems will be settled at the level of the Force and Ministry. It is being tried that this app can not be hacked. Such an arrangement has been made in this app that the jawans download it and then verify it.

Meeting of the Co-Chairs of the India-Russia Intergovernmental Commission held inNew Delhi

The Co-Chairs of the India-Russia Inter-Governmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technological and Cultural Cooperation (IRIGC-TEC) was held in New Delhi.The delegations of the two nations were led by External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Deputy Prime Minister of the Russia Dmitry Olegovich Rogozin. During the meet, the two leaders reviewed the progress made on various bilateral issues since the last meet that was held on 13 September 2016. They also looked forward towards the preparations for the forthcoming India-Russia Annual Summit that is scheduled to be held in St. Petersburg on 1 June 2017.

In a First for a Government Owned Company Kochi Metro Appoints Transgenders

Kochi Metro will employ 23 members from the transgender community. This is the first time a government owned company has formally appointed members of the transgender community. These 23 workers will be a part of the 530 Kudumbasree workers to be employed at 11 stations in the Kochi Metro. While the better educated workers would be posted at ticket counters, the rest will be deputed for housekeeping works, customer relations, parking, gardening and to man the coach-depot canteen. All of the workers have been appointed after written test and interview and have been imparted training in soft and technical skills.

Punjab CM approves online transfer policy for teacher

Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has approved a policy for online transfer of government teachers from the next academic session, on the lines of a similar system existing in several other states, including neighbouring Haryana. An official spokesman said that the decision was taken by the Chief Minister at an Education Department review meeting at Chandigarh to make the transfer process more transparent. Chief Minister also suggested posting of teachers, especially in primary schools, in their villages or surrounding areas to enable them to discharge their duties with dedication and honesty.

UP Cabinet passes Lord krishna's town Mathura-Vrindavan as Nagar Nigam

The Uttar Pradesh state cabinet has passed the ‘Ayodhya- Faizabad’ and ‘Mathura-Vrindavan’ as municipal corporation (Nagar Nigam) to develop its surrounding areas. There are already 14 Nagar Nigams in state and after two new more Nagar Nigams total number comes to 16 Nagar nigam.

Vijay Goel Flagged Off four Clean Himalaya Expeditions

Minister of Sports, Vijay Goel flagged off four Clean Himalaya expeditions and a Medical Mountaineering expedition to Mt Satopanth (7075 Mtrs) at the Indian Mountaineering Foundation (IMF)in Delhi. Speaking on the occasion, Goel said that such initiatives by the IMF will not only help in ensuring safe practices during the conduct of adventure activities but will also add to the skill levels of the youth, enhancing their employability, discipline and courage.

Rajasthan to launch action plans for reducing infant mortality rate

The Rajasthan government has decided to introduce action plans at the district level in order to utilise locally available resources to reduce infant mortality rate (IMR). The plans will be based on the socio-economic conditions of each district.Speaking on the development, State Principal Medical and Health Secretary Veenu Gupta said that an important aspect of the district-level action plans would be a better coordination among the doctors working in the primary health centres for optimum utilisation of resources.

Justin Bieber performs at his first ever concert in India

Singer Justin Bieber on Wednesday performed at his first ever concert in India at Mumbai's DY Patil Stadium, where he waved the Indian flag towards the end of the concert. The 23-year-old singer performed his songs including 'Baby' and 'Cold Water', while he sang 'Sorry' on the insistence of his fans. Bieber said he loves India and promised to return.

Bengaluru tops list of most affordable tech cities worldwide

Bengaluru has topped the list of most affordable tech cities in the world followed by Cape Town and Santiago, according to the Savills Tech Cities Index. However, the overall rank of Bengaluru was 20th on the list of 22 cities that were evaluated across five major categories with Austin topping the chart followed by San Francisco and New York.

China initiated its second attempt to test its simulated space cabin- Yuegong-1- in Beijing to strengthen its knowledge of what would be required for humans to remain on the moon for medium and long durations. The development indicates that the country is clearly planning to send its first lunar explorers for a longer stay on the space body.

India protests Participation of Canada’s PM at ‘Khalsa Day’

India has protested the participation of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau at ‘Khalsa Day’ in Toronto that saw felicitation of Sikh separatist elements and featured Khalistani flags and posters of Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale. Mr. Trudeau has become the first Canadian PM to attend the ‘Khalsa Day’ event in a decade since Paul Martin in 2005. The Khalsa Day event was organised to mark the Sikh new year.

Home Ministry asks NGOs to open Bank Accounts in Core Banking format

The Home Ministry has instructed 5,845 NGOs to open their accounts in banks having core banking facilities. The NGOs are also required to furnish the account details for real time access of security agencies in case of any discrepancy. The move is aimed at checking “errant” NGOs especially those organizations receiving foreign funding. The Home Ministry has mandated the NGOs registered under the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act to have their accounts in either nationalised banks or in a few private banks that has core banking facilities. Around 3,768 NGOs have been told that their accounts in banks does not have core banking facilities. Another 2,077 NGOs have been instructed to furnish their bank accounts details as such details are not available with the home ministry.

Paytm signs non-exclusive deal to acquire FreeCharge: Report

Paytm has reportedly signed a non-exclusive term sheet to acquire Snapdeal-owned payments platform FreeCharge. The term sheet being non-exclusive means that Snapdeal will be able to propose FreeCharge to other potential buyers as well. Paytm-FreeCharge deal could be finalised at $45 million to $90 million, 80% less than $450 million that FreeCharge was valued at, when Snapdeal acquired it.

Sanjay Mitra Appointed as Next Defence Secretary

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of 1982 West Bengal cadre IAS officer Sanjay Mitra as the next defence secretary. He will have a fixed tenure of two years. Prior to this appointment, Mitra was the secretary in the ministry of road transport and highways.

India’s Harpreet Singh wins bronze in Asian Wrestling Championship

Harpreet Singh has bagged bronze medal in Greco-Roman weight divisions in the Asian Wrestling Championship held at the K.D. Jadhav arena in the Indira Gandhi Stadium Complex in New Delhi. Harpreet clinched the bronze medal after beating his rival Jun Ji Na of China in 80 kg category. The other three Greco-Roman wrestlers, namely, Ravinder (66kg), Hardeep (98kg) and Naveen (130kg) failed to win any medal. The Greco-Roman category is generally not considered as Indian wrestlers forte.

Shashank Manohar to complete his full term as ICC Chairman

The International Cricket Council (ICC) confirmed that Shashank Manohar will continue to function as the Independent Chairman of ICC till June 2018. With this, the uncertainty looming large over Shashank Manohar's tenure as ICC chairman came to an end.

Seven athletes selected at GAIL Indian Speed Star Season II

The Season II of GAIL Indian Speed Star culminated in New Delhi with the selection of 7 athletes. The grand finale of this grass root athletics program was held at Thyagaraj Sports Complex. Now, these seven athletes will be trained to compete in international athletic events.The GAIL Indian Speed Star culminated after a series of trials across India. Starting with over 113000 aspirants initially, as many as 118 athletes had qualified trials at the zonal level from 107 districts of India before top 7 were selected from the national camp.

FIBA revises earlier rule banning headgears

International Basketball Federation (FIBA) has revised its earlier rule banning players from wearing headgear. It will enable India's Sikh players to wear turbans and play in the upcoming FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 Qualifiers in China. The Qualifiers for the Asia-Oceania region comprise the same sixteen teams that are slated to compete at the FIBA Asia Cup 2017 in Lebanon from August 10-20.
