Name: Amit Adwani
SBI JA (currently working), Union Bank of India PO
I was a below average student since beginning not at all interested in studying.
Scored 43.33% in 10th
65% in 12th
49% in Graduation ( B.Com)
62% in MBA (Finance)
I didn't know what I have to do in my life so just did MBA and thought that I will get a job after doing it. Took admission in a college which was just started, mine was the 2nd batch.
My parents were not having any hope from me and my Dad warned me to study well as he is spending a lot of money on my MBA degree.
I was in my last semester and there was no sign of any placements so I started giving bank exams but was not serious and after giving my last semester exams I left for Pune in search of a job. Finally, I got a job in a KPO after 15 days which was paying me 14k per month. I was also giving bank exams but still, I was not serious and thought competition is much high and I can't do it.
10 months passed I was frustrated with my job and got an opportunity to work with Deutsche Bank (Investment Banking division). I got through the interview and was selected with a decent salary. I learnt a lot but there was a lot of pressure + night shifts as I was supporting traders who were sitting in UK. All this was affecting my health as there was no fixed time of eating, sleeping etc. I worked there for 1.5 years.
Finally after a lot of hard work I was getting nothing as compared to what I was doing for my company. It gave me motivation and I thought that If I will put this much of hard work in my preparation I can definitely clear bank exams.
I spoke to my parents but My Father was some what worried and he said not to leave the job but I convinced him to give me 1 year and I will not ask for money from him as I have my savings and I can easily spend 1 year without any income.
Finally in April 2015 I resigned and took the biggest risk of my career, I came back to my home town and joined coaching my first exam was SBI PO 2015 in which I got only 30 marks in pre.
After that I started studying seriously. There were times I missed by a few marks, A lot of times I got disappointed after reaching till interview and then getting failed.
Exams I cleared in 2015
- RRB clerk got selcted in Chhatisgarh Gramin Bank but didn't join.
- United India Insurance assistant cleared but out in interview.
- IBPS PO got 51 marks in Pre and 99.75 in Mains (Final 49.10). Missed by 0.8 and was really disappointed as everyone told me that I am in as I got 99.75 in written. Got only 46 in interview needed 50.
- Finally got IBPS Clerk Bank of India. Got posting 1100 kms from home :(
Failing in IBPS PO was the biggest disappointment and I was regretting my decision to leave my job.
Exams I cleared in 2016
SBI JA got selected (currently working)
IBPS PO got 73.75 in mains and final 40.30 (Union Bank of India)
I thought I will not post my story because nobody is interested in reading it but someone here on BA told me "Kya pata kisi ek ko motivation mil jaye". "Being defeated is temporary, giving up is what makes it permanent"
