North-East Business Summit starts today in New Delhi :

A two-day North-East Business Summit (NEBS) begins in New Delhi today. The summit aims to display the strengths, potentials and initiatives of the North-East, promote investment the region and also have focused deliberations on strategic areas like healthcare, connectivity, agriculture, food processing and energy. The Summit will also showcase the untapped business potential of North-East to investors worldwide.
Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Dr Jitendra Singh, will address the conclave tomorrow. The summit will witness active participation from senior Government Officials and Industry stalwarts.

Meeting held b/w Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan  new US Energy Secretary Rick Perry :

Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan has discussed with new Energy Secretary Rick Perry the possibility of importing LNG from the US and Indian investment in the energy sector there.
He met Mr Perry in the US Capitol and discussed energy cooperation between the two countries, Indian investment in Liquefied natural gas (LNG) and Shale sectors, and the possibility of the US exporting LNG to India from early next year.

Two day Dalal Street Lit Fest 2017 to be organised by BSE Institute :
BSE Institute will organise a two-day 'Dalal Street Lit Fest 2017' at its premises in Mumbai from tomorrow. In a-one-of-its-kind art celebration; multiple workshops on varied art forms, poetry recitals, storytelling and contemporary discussions would be organised during the fest.
BSE Institute MD and CEO Ambarish Datta said that the institute has envisaged an opportunity to go beyond the boundaries of a literature festival by blending art and finance.
1 lakh 80 thousand BPL families offered LPG connections by Haryana :

Haryana government has so far provided one lakh 80 thousand 848 LPG connections to BPL families under Pradhanamntri Ujjwala Yojna (PMUY). This was stated by Minister of State for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Karan Dev Kamboj in the state assembly today.
He said, those who are not eligible under PMUY are being provided LPG connections with a subsidy of 1600 rupees per family from state budget. He said, the state government will carryout a fresh survey to cover those poor families, who were not included in the existing list.

Karnataka govt declared Rs.10 cr fund for women entrepreneurs of the state :

On the occasion of International Women's Day on Wednesday, Karnataka's IT Minister Priyank Kharge announced a Rs. 10 crore fund for women entrepreneurs in the state. The fund will provide women-led technology startups with up to Rs.50 lakh each. The minister said that besides funding, the government will also provide legal and mentoring assistance to the startups.

Aadhaar card made mandatory for crop insurance policies by govt :

The Centre has made Aadhaar mandatory for availing crop insurance policies from April 1. Till the time Aadhaar is assigned to an individual, crop insurance can be availed by furnishing documents such as Aadhaar enrolment slip and voter ID, among others. This comes after the Centre recently went back on its move to make Aadhaar mandatory for mid-day meals.
Aadhaar made mandatory for poor women to avail free LPG connection :

The government has made having an Aadhaar card must for poor women to avail free cooking gas (LPG) connection under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana. The government in October 2016 made the unique identification number mandatory for everyone to get LPG subsidies. It has now extended the same for free cooking gas connections to women of Below Poverty Line households.

'India by the Nile' cultural festival begins in Egypt :

In Egypt, the mega cultural festival 'India by the Nile' got off to a colourful start at the foot of the Pyramids in Cairo with a Crafts Mela, showcasing joint handicraft exhibition of India and Egypt.
India's Ambassador to Egypt, Sanjay Bhattacharyya said the event is a special moment as this year India celebrate 70 years of independence and also 70 years of its diplomatic relations with Egypt. He said the ties that bind the Nile and the Ganga, the Pyramids and Taj Mahal find expression in the affection shared between the two peoples and nurtures their vibrant partnership.

Citizens of Georgia will be allowed in EU countries without visa from March 28 :

The Georgian nationals will be allowed to visit countries of the European Union for a period of up to 90 days in any 180-day period without a visa starting from 28th of this month. The Georgian Foreign Ministry said in a statement yesterday.
On the 27th of last month, the Council of the European Union adopted the regulation on visa liberalization for Georgia. Georgia had been striving for visa liberalization with the 28-nation bloc for years.

Jon Huntsman Former US Governor appointed as US Ambassador to Russia :

In US, former Utah Republican Governor Jon Huntsman has accepted President Donald Trump's offer to be Ambassador to Russia. The job requires Senate confirmation.
Huntsman had served as Ambassador to China under former President Barack Obama.

RBI to introduce New Rs. 10 notes with more security features :

The Reserve Bank of India will soon issue Rs. 10 denomination notes with enhanced security features for circulation. The RBI today said the banknotes in the Mahatma Gandhi series-2005 would carry an inset letter ‘L’ on both number panels, bearing the signature of Governor Urjit Patel.
The year of printing, 2017, will be on the reverse of the note. Among other features, numerals on both the panels will be in ascending size from left to right. The first three alpha-numeric characters (prefix) will remain constant in size.

Virat Kohli, Ashwin receive awards at BCCI ceremony :

Indian skipper Virat Kohli and spinner Ravichandran Ashwin were awarded at the annual BCCI awards ceremony in Bengaluru on Wednesday. Kohli, for the third time in his career, received the Polly Umrigar award for the best international cricketer, while Ravichandran Ashwin was given the Dilip Sardesai award. For the first time, women cricketers were honoured for their performances.
ICC appoints Sachin as ambassador for ICC Women's World Cup 2017 :

The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Wednesday appointed Indian cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar as the UNICEF and Cricket For Good Ambassador for the ICC Women's World Cup 2017, scheduled to start from June 24. "Women for sport and sport for women goes hand in hand... I'm here to extend all my support and above all, enjoy that competitiveness," said Sachin.
M Chandrakasu ex Puducherry Minister passes away at age 65 :

Former Puducherry Minister M Chandrakasu passed away in a private hospital in Chennai on wednesday evening after prolonged illeness. He was 65.

Chandrakasu represented Nedungad constituency in the outlying enclave of Karaikal for six terms. He was Agriculture Minister in the Rangasamy Government. Nedungad returned his daughter Chandrapriyanga in the last Territorial Assembly election.
