Bicycles on rental to be offered by Noida Metro :
Metro stations in Noida are set to offer commuters the chance to rent bicycles for short trips, Noida Metro Rail Corporation officials have said. Commuters will have to submit certain details and use their metro smart cards to rent the bicycles. The officials said that cycle stands will be set up at metro stations, group housing complexes and markets.
IISc Bangalore becomes 1st Indian university to listed in world's top 10 universities :
Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore has become India's first university to be ranked among the world's top 10. IISc Bangalore was ranked 8th in the recently released Times Higher Education Rankings of the world's top 10 small universities hosting less than 5,000 students. The top university continues to be the California Institute of Technology, widely known as Caltech.

SpiceJet has announced that it will reserve its fourth row on all flights for female passengers travelling alone, starting Wednesday on International Women's Day. In case the flight is full, women will be assigned aisle and middle seats as moving out of these is easier, the airline added. Meanwhile, Air India started seat reservation for solo women passengers in January.
GMR Hyderabad airport ranks 1st in world in service quality :
GMR Hyderabad International Airport has been ranked first in the world in the highest passenger handling capacity category by the Airports Council International’s Airport Service Quality survey. The airport, running into its ninth year of operations, is designed to cater to 1.5 crore passengers per annum. The second position has been held by Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport.
First smart tribal village 'Hubbi' of Jammu and Kashmir set opened :
Jammu and Kashmir Minister for Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali on Sunday inaugurated the first smart tribal model village 'Hubbi' in Rajouri district of the state. The Rural Development Department has introduced smart classes in schools, better roads, electricity, and water facility in the village.

Special Commemorative Postage Stamp released by PM Modi marking of 100 years of Yogoda Satsang Math :
Prime Minister Narendra Modi today released a postage stamp to commemorate 100 years of Yogoda Satsanga Society of India at a function in New Delhi. Yogoda Satsang Society of India was founded by Paramahansa Yogananda in 1917.
Addressing the centenary celebrations
of Yogoda Satsang Math, Mr Modi said that India’s spirituality is its strength. He said, once an individual develops an interest in Yoga and starts diligently practicing it, it will always remain a part of his or her life.
'Surya Kiran-XI' Indo-Nepal joint Military exercise starts today at Uttarakhand :
A joint military exercise SURYA KIRAN-XI between India and Nepal will begin today in Pithoragarh area of Uttarakhand. This is a battalion level joint exercise between the two armies.
The two week long exercise is aimed at training of both the troops in the area of various counter insurgency operations over a prolonged period. It will also focus on other important aspects such as humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operations and environmental conservation.

National Conference on Jal Kranti Abhiyan held today at New Delhi :
Water Resources Minister Uma Bharti will inaugurate a national conference on Jal Kranti Abhiyan in New Delhi today. About 700 participants representing various stakeholder groups such as farmers, panchayat members, NGOs and students will attend the day-long conference.
Ministry of Water Resources and River Development had launched Jal Kranti Abhiyan on June, 2015 to consolidate water conservation and management in the country through a holistic and integrated approach involving all stakeholders.
3-day international conference on e-governance starts today at New Delhi :
A three-day international conference on e-governance `ICEGOV 2017' will begin today in New Delhi. An official statement said the event being organised by the Electronics and IT Ministry in collaboration with UNESCO will discuss the role of technology in transforming relation between government and its citizens, businesses and civil society. Minister of Electronics and IT, Law & Justice, Ravi Shankar Prasad will inaugrate the conference.
Air Conditioned jacket made of cotton fabric launched by Union Minister Giriraj Singh : Bihar
In Nawada district of Bihar, Union Minister Giriraj Singh launched an Air Conditioned jacket made of cotton fabric. Mr. Singh said this is the first of its kind.This jacket has been made by a villager of Khanwa of the district through Solar charkha using swadeshi technology.
Climate gear has been fitted in this jacket which controls temperature. The Minister said, the cost of this jacket is about 25 thousand rupees, but its price would be decided by NITI AAYOG.

International Yoga Day fest to start tomorrow in New Delhi :
Two day International Yoga Day fest will begin in New Delhi from tomorrow. More than 3500 participants including eminent yoga gurus, yoga masters, scholars and policy makers will participate in it.
The fest will be inaugurated by Information and Broadcasting Minister Venkaiah Naidu at Talkatora stadium. It will comprise parallel yoga workshop, lectures, satsang, cultural programmes and yoga demos.

New order on travel ban signed by Donald Trump :
US President Donald Trump on Monday signed a revised executive order imposing a 90-day travel ban on visitors to the United States from six Muslim-majority countries. The order will not take effect until March 16 this year, officials said. Notably, the new order affects six of the seven countries included in the first executive order but leaves out Iraq.

Aadhaar pay infrastructure launched by IDFC Bank :
IDFC Bank today officially launched its Aadhaar pay infrastructure meant for those without any mobile phone to carry out cashless transactions. "It actually makes cashless transactions possible even for those who do not have mobile phones, but the merchant has to have a mobile phone.
All one needs is to get the bank account number linked with Aadhaar. Basic banking services will come to those who even do not have basic mobile phones," said Rajiv Lall, founder MD and CEO, at the launch.
The bank aims to reach 50,000-75,000 merchant points to be connected to the Aadhaar pay module in the next two years. Before this official launch, IDFC Bank has done successful pilot across 16 states.

New Trade Mark Rules 2017 came into effect from today :
The Trade Mark Rules, 2017 have come into effect from today which will replace the erstwhile Trade Mark Rules 2002 and streamline and simplify the processing of Trade Mark applications.
In the revamped rules number of Trade Mark forms have been reduced from 74 to eight. Commerce and Industry Ministry said, the fee for online filing has been kept at 10 per cent lower than that for physical filing to promote e-filing of trade mark applications.
Fitch reports Indian economy growth to be 7.1% this fiscal :
Global rating agency Fitch today said, Indian economy will grow by 7.1 per cent in the current fiscal before stepping up to 7.7 per cent in the next two financial years. The US-based agency has termed the 7 per cent GDP growth for the October-December quarter as surprising and a tad lower than 7.4 per cent in the previous quarter.
It said the December quarter GDP number suggests that economic activity was hardly hit by the cash crunch after the government's move to remove 86 per cent of currency in circulation overnight.

Prof Dr K Srinath Reddy has been appointed as the adviser to advise the Odisha government on proper implementation and smooth delivery of the ongoing health programmes in the state. A communiqué from the chief minister’s office said eminent cardiologist, epidemiologist and president of Public Health Foundation of India will be given Cabinet minister rank and other facilities.
Padma Bhusan awardee Dr K Srinath Reddy was the former head of the Department of Cardiology at New Delhi’s All India Institute of Medical Sciences and associated with capacity building in public health in India through education, training, research, policy development, health communication and advocacy.

Team India sponsorship bagged by OPPO for 5 years :
The BCCI on Tuesday announced Chinese smartphone manufacturer OPPO Mobiles as the new sponsor of Team India. The company, which is replacing Star India as the team sponsor, have been given a five-year-long contract, beginning from April 2017. Star India had refused to extend their contract citing a lack of clarity in the board.
Kalikaprasad Bengali folk singer dies in road accident :
Bengali folk singer Kalikaprasad Bhattacharjee, known for his band 'Dohar', passed away aged 56 in a road accident in Hooghly, West Bengal today. Bhattacharjee was travelling with members of his band, when their car was hit by a truck from behind and fell into the river. Bhattacharjee was known for popularising folk songs of rural Bengal through his albums.
Former Lok Sabha Speaker Rabi Ray passes away at age 91 :
Eminent socialist leader, former Union Minister and former Speaker of Lok Sabha Rabi Ray passed away after a prolonged illness on Monday afternoon, while undergoing treatment at the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack. He was 91 and is survived by wife Dr. Saraswati Swain.
Hundreds of people rushed to the hospital and later to his Kalyan Nagar residence in Cuttack to pay their last respects to the departed soul. Many also joined in the procession when his body was taken to his alma maters Ravenshaw University and M.S. Law College. Family sources said the mortal remains of the popular leader shall be consigned to flames at his native village near Puri.
