First bike taxi service 'Baxi ' to be introduced in Noida :
Noida will get its first bike taxi service later this month with the launch of Baxi. Baxi Co-founder Ashutosh Johri said, "Our pilots (drivers) are trained in hygiene, etiquette, safety and other aspects that can make the passengers comfortable in using our service." Meanwhile, Baxi already runs its services in Gurugram.
India's Indigenously-made INSAS rifles to 'retire' from army :
Indigenously-manufactured INSAS rifles will 'retire' from the army after 20 years in service and be replaced by an imported rifle, according to reports. The Indian Small Arms System (INSAS) is likely to be replaced with deadlier assault rifles of a higher caliber, reports added. INSAS rifles were being retired reportedly due to their limited effectiveness at long range.
Bihar government cut tourism budget by 84% :
Bihar government has pegged the budget for the tourism sector for 2017-18 at Rs.109.87 crore, which is 84% less than the funds allocated last year. This comes despite tourism being identified among 10 priority sectors of the government under its Industrial Investment Promotion Policy, 2016. The cut is expected to hit government's plan to upgrade its hotels in the state.

Vice President Hamid Ansari to attend IORA Summit at Indonesia :
Vice President Mohammed Hamid Ansari is embarking on a two day visit to Indonesian capital Jakarta, from today to attend the Summit of the Indian Ocean Rim Association, IORA. Connectivity, open maritime trade and rights of navigation are expected to be priority areas to be discussed during his visit. Mr. Ansari is also expected to stress on the member countries about evolving common strategies to meet the conventional and non-conventional threats to the security of the member countries.
This is the first Summit level conference hosted by Jakarta, at a time when the regional forum is celebrating its 20th anniversary. Indonesia had played a key role in elevating the IORA to become a summit level forum.

1st ever survey in Ganga launched by Centre to determine population of aquatic life :
Centre has launched the first ever across-the-river survey in Ganga to determine the population of aquatic life, including that of the endangered Gangetic doplhin.
The study is crucial as the animal population in a river indicates the quality of its water. National Mission for Clean Ganga has said that the survey will create a baseline scientific data for the government to take suitable measures to improve quality of the river water.
Destination North East 2017 to be host by Chandigarh :
Chandigarh will host a three-day long 'Destination North East' 2017 event showcasing North East as a potential destination for investment from today.
Union Minister of State for Development of North Eastern Region, Jitendra Singh will inaugurate the event. Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region and an industry body PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry are organising the event.

Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu on 3 day trip to UAE :
Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu is on a three day visit to UAE with focus on seeking investment in Indian Railways and redevelopment of stations.
Indian Ambassador to UAE Mr Navdeep Suri said this in a tweet. Mr Prabhu is likely to have several bilateral discussions with the UAE government in a bid to seek major infrastructure investment from the Gulf region to India. Meeting with the captains of the Indian business community in the UAE is also on the agenda.

INS Viraat World’s oldest serving aircraft carrier war ship retires today :
INS Viraat, the world’s oldest aircraft carrier in active service, will be decommissioned this evening with a ceremonial send-off in Mumbai. The decommissioning of INS Viraat will be very emotional moment for Navy and personnel deployed on the ship.
A glorious chapter in the Indian Navy’s history will come to an end today when INS Viraat, the longest serving aircraft carrier will retire after serving the country for nearly three decades. The decommissioning ceremony will be attended, by defence minister Manohar Parrikar and other dignitaries.
Retired defence personnel employed as security guards in state Transport of Maharashtra :
Maharashtra Transport Minister Diwakar Raote said retired defence personnel are being employed as security guards in the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC).
Talking to newspersons on Sunday outside the ST depot at Kalyan, Raote said 900 ex-servicemen have already been appointed in the MSRTC as security guards and 550 more are being added. Suresh Bhosale, a MSRTC driver, was recently attacked by a rickshaw driver. He is being treated at a local hospital, where Raote paid a visit and enquired about his health.

India's largest tricolour flag on tallest flag post inaugurated at Attari Border :
Punjab Cabinet Minister Anil Joshi today inaugurated India’s largest tricolour on the tallest flag post at Indo-Pakistan Attari Border on Indian side just stone throw distance from Pakistan.
Flag post measuring 110 metres in length and 24 metres in width with 55 tons weight has been inaugurated today. Built at an approximate cost of 3.50 crore, the post was a project of the Amritsar Improvement Trust Authority of Punjab Government.
Widowers of Haryana to be given pension from next year: Govt
Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal said, State Government is contemplating to grant pension to widowers on the pattern of widows, from the next year.
The Chief Minister was responding to a question raised by MLA Ravinder Macchrouli during the ongoing budget session of the state assembly, at Chandigarh today.

Bahrain Parliament has approved a constitutional change allowing military courts to try civilians.The island's Consultative Council, the upper house of the Bahraini Parliament appointed by King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, approved the change yesterday after Council of Representatives, the Parliament's elected lower house, passed it with little opposition.
The bill revises a portion of Bahrain's constitution by removing limitations on who military courts can try. Justice Minister Khalid bin Ali Al Khalifa said the amendment was necessary as military judges are best placed to deal with irregular warfare.

SBI to reintroduce penalty maintaining below Monthly Average Balance in accounts from 1st of April :
State Bank of India has decided to reintroduce penalty on non-maintenance of minimum balance in accounts from 1st of next month. Failing to maintain monthly average balance in accounts will attract penalty up to 100 rupees plus service tax.
The public sector bank has also revised its charges on other services, including ATMs. The bank had suspended levying charges on breach of minimum balance requirements in 2012 to acquire new customers. The country's largest bank will now permit savings bank account holders to free of charge cash deposit only three times a month and levy 50 plus service tax on every transaction beyond that. In case of current account, the levy could go as high as twenty thousand rupees.

Ashwin made a record of most balls bowled in a Test season surpassing Anil Kumble :
Ravichandran Ashwin on Sunday overtook Anil Kumble to become the bowler with most balls bowled in a Test cricket season. Ashwin has bowled 3,701 balls (616.5 overs) in the 2016/17 season while Kumble had bowled 3,673 balls (612.1 overs) in the 2004/05 season. Interestingly, the top five bowlers with most balls bowled in a season are all Indian spinners.
ATP Mexico Open 2017 won by Sam Querrey :
Unseeded American Sam Querrey has won the ATP Mexico Open hard court tennis tournament. In the final at Acapulco in Mexico, Querrey stunned second-seeded Rafael Nadal in straight sets 6-3, 7-6. In the process, the American ended the Spaniard's run of perfection in the tournament. Nadal, the 2005 and 2013 champion, had never even lost a set in Acapulco.
Querrey, ranked 40th in the world, fired 19 aces, backed up by powerful, precise groundstrokes, en route to his first career victory over Nadal in five meetings. For Querrey, it is his ninth ATP title.

Ind 7th secured rank by defeating Pak at Asia Men's Rugby Sevens Trophy :
The Indian men's Rugby team defeated Pakistan 14-12 to secure the 7th rank at the Asia Men's Rugby Sevens Trophy. The two-day championship was held on Friday and Saturday, at Aspire Rugby Field in Doha, Qatar.
India who were led by skipper Gautam Dagar, were beaten twice by UAE in the first round on day one. UAE won with scores of 19-12 and 45-0. On Day Two in the cup quarter finals, India lost to Singapore by 7-19, and in the 5th & 6th placing matches, India lost to Iran by 5-17.
