Goa BJP MLAs pass resolution to make Parrikar CM

The Goa BJP MLAs, in the state's party legislature meeting, passed a resolution to make Union Minister Manohar Parrikar as state Chief Minister. The MLAs have also written a letter to BJP President Amit Shah requesting him to send Parrikar back to Goa. BJP has reportedly claimed to have got support from Goa Forward Party and MGP.
Ceasefire Violation: Pakistani forces resort to shelling, firing along LoC:

In Jammu and Kashmir, in yet another incidence of ceasefire violation, Pakistani forces resorted to shelling and firing in Krishna Ghati sector along the Line of Control in Poonch district.
According to Defence sources, the forces from across the border, started unprovoked firing and shelling, targeting some Indian Positions in Khadi-Kamada area around 12 this afternoon.
The troops guarding the border retaliated the firing effectively and the intermittent exchange of fire was continuing when last reports came in.
Rajnath Singh's son Pankaj wins from Noida in UP

Home Minister Rajnath Singh's son and BJP leader Pankaj Singh posted a win from the Noida constituency in Uttar Pradesh. Pankaj Singh polled over 1.6 lakh votes while the candidate from Samajwadi Party, who stood second, received just over 58,000 votes. The Bahujan Samaj Party candidate stood third with over 27,000 votes.
Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis inaugurated the first floating hotel or floatel in Mumbai:

AB Celestial, a three-tier yacht featuring restaurants and a sky deck, is harboured near Bandra-Worli Sea Link toll plazas. "The floatel will give a 360-degree view of Mumbai and the Arabian Sea and has a capacity to cater to around 650 guests," an official said.

UK faces 14,000 crore fine over Chinese imports scam: EU

The British government faces a €2 billion fine (over 14,000 crore) for negligence that allowed criminal gangs to flood European black markets with illegal Chinese goods, EU anti-fraud investigators have said. France, Germany, Spain and Italy collectively lost €3.2 billion (over 22,000 crore) during 2013-2016 in VAT revenues, as a result of British failures in handling imports at its ports.
China warns US President Trump over trade war

China has warned US President Donald Trump that any trade war between the two countries will bring nothing but harm.
China's Commerce Minister Zhong Shan told this to reporters on the sidelines of the Parliament session in Beijing amid concerns that Trump may hike tariffs against Chinese goods.
He said, that cooperation is the only right choice and the two countries should work to enhance it and manage differences. Mr. Zhong expressed the belief that the two countries will make the right judgement on bilateral trade ties.

ICICI Bank records highest number of frauds, says RBI

ICICI Bank topped the list of banks that witnessed most number of frauds, with State Bank of India taking the second spot, during April-December 2016 period, RBI data revealed. As many as 455 fraud cases involving 1 lakh and above were detected in ICICI Bank, followed by SBI at 429. Further, 450 employees were involved in fraud in various banks.
APPOINTMENTS:
B.P. Kanungo has beed appointed as the RBI deputy governor in place of R. Gandhi:

The government appointed B.P. Kanungo as a deputy governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) said that Kanungo will take charge on 3 April, after present deputy governor R. Gandhi’s retirement.
Kanungo is a career central banker and was appointed as an RBI executive director on 1 March 2016. He has been incharge of the foreign exchange department, internal debt management department and department of government and bank accounts.
BUSINESS NEWS
Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs) infuse Rs 10,288 cr in capital markets so far this month:
Foreign funds pumped-in over 10,200 crore rupees in the Indian capital markets so far this month. According to depository data, Foreign Portfolio Investors, FPIs, infused a net sum of 9,628 crore rupees in equities, during March 1 to 10 and another 660 crore rupees in the debt segment, translating into a combined inflow of 10,288 crore rupees.
The latest net inflow comes following a net investment of 15,862 crore rupees in the capital markets last month. So far this year, Foreign Portfolio Investors have invested 18,354 crore rupees in equities and 4,301 crore rupees in the debt, taking the total inflow to 22,655 crore rupees.

Amitabh Bachchan (Big B), Alia Bhatt named Best Actor and Actress at Zee Cine Awards:
Amitabh Bachchan won the Best Actor award for 'Pink' and Alia Bhatt was named the Best Actress for her role in 'Udta Punjab' at Zee Cine Awards 2017. 'Pink' was declared the winner in the Best Film category while Ram Madhvani won the Best Director Award for 'Neerja'. Further, Jim Sarbh was named the Best Debutant (Male) for 'Neerja'.
BILLS AND AMENDMENTS:
The Lok Sabha on 10 March 2017 passed the Admiralty (Jurisdiction and Settlement of Maritime Claims) Bill,2016:
The Bill seeks to extend the jurisdiction to respective High Courts in contrast to the 1890 law, which had mandated the power to Madras, Bombay and Calcutta High Courts.
The Bill passed by the Lok Sabha also aims to consolidate all laws on civil matters of jurisdiction of courts to include High Courts of Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Gujarat and Odisha.

World no. 1 loses to world no. 129 in ATP world tournament:
World number one Andy Murray was defeated by world number 129, Canada's Vasek Pospisil, at the BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells. Pospisil, a qualifier at the tournament, defeated Murray 6-4, 7-6 (7-5) in the second round, to register his first victory against the Briton in five meetings. Pospisil has won the Wimbledon men's doubles title in 2014.
Mirza, Strycova storm into quarter-finals of Indian Wells Masters
In Tennis, Sania Mirza and her Czech team-mate Barbora Strycova have stormed into the quarter-finals of the Indian Wells Masters in California. The fourth-seeded pair defeated the Italian-Polish team of Sara Errani and Alicja Rosolska, in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3.
However, in the Men's Doubles, Leander Paes and his Argentinian team-mate Juan Martin Del Potro made an exit in the opening round after losing to the American-Luxembourgish duo of Sam Querrey and Gilles Muller, 3-6, 4-6.
