1). A)Let age of the son before  10 years  =x and

age of the mother before  10 years  =3x

 (3x+20)=2(x+20)⇒x=20

Age of the son at present  =x+10=20+10=30

Age of the mother at present =3x+10=3×20+10=70

Required ratio = 70:30 =7:3

2). A)Speed of train relative to man = (60 + 6) km/hr = 66 km/hr.

 = 66 x (5/18) m/sec

  = 55/3           m/sec.

Time taken to pass the man =  100 x (3/55) sec = 5 5/11 sec.

3). D)Area to be plastered = [2(l + b) x h] + (l x b)

= {[2(20 + 14) x 6] + (20 x 14)} m2

= (408 + 280) m2

 Cost of plastering = Rs.      688 x 75 = Rs. 516.

4). B)Gain % = {[(100+common gain percent)² / 100] – 100} %

= {[(100 + 10)² /100] – 100} %

=  [(12100 - 10000) /100] % = 21%

= (110 + 91 + 252 – 190 – 18) / 35 = 245/35 = 7
