Aadhaar card made must for getting availing university scholarships :
The Centre has made Aadhaar card mandatory for availing scholarships under the Central Sector Scholarship Scheme for College and University students. Those wishing to avail scholarships will have to apply for Aadhaar by June 30. However, till an Aadhaar card is assigned, students may get scholarships by providing​ documents like Aadhaar enrolment slip, Aadhaar enrolment application, voter ID, etc.
IIM Bill 2017 removes name of  Rajiv Gandhi from IIM Shillong :
The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Bill 2017, recently introduced in the Lok Sabha, has dropped the name of former PM Rajiv Gandhi from IIM Shillong's name. This is the first instance of the former PM's name being dropped from a leading education institution. The Bill aims to vestige greater autonomy and power to these institutions in granting degrees.
Perambalur of Tamil Nadu makes record by building 4,666 toilets in 48 hours :
Under the Swachh Bharat Mission, the District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) has built 4,666 toilets in 121 villages of Tamil Nadu’s Perambalur district in 48 hours. The work started at 7 am on February 13 and was completed at 7 am on February 15. The total cost of the construction was 7.20 crore.

WHO gives maximum rating to NRAI for vaccine regulations :
National Regulatory Authority of India (NRAI) has been given the maximum ratings by the World Health Organisation for vaccine regulations. An official statement said in New Delhi that WHO completed the assessment of the status of the Indian vaccine regulatory system against WHO NRA Global Benchmarking Tool and measured the maturity of the system in India.
The assessment has been done in respect of 9 different functionalities by a WHO team comprising lead experts in different areas from WHO Headquarters Geneva, WHO India Country Office, experts drawn from several countries.
S Jaishankar Foreign Secretary planned a 3-day visit to Sri Lanka :
Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar is scheduled to visit Sri Lanka from today on a three - day official visit. He will be meeting Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and other Sri Lankan leaders on Monday.
A wide range of bilateral issues will come up for discussions during the meetings and will carry forward the close exchanges with Sri Lanka. The bilateral relations have been focused on economic and maritime projects in recent past and the Foreign Secretary is scheduled to review collaboration and cooperation in a number of sectors including power, highways, airport and hydrocarbon sector.

Railway minister Suresh Prabhu on a 3 day official visit to Nepal:
Railway minister Suresh Prabhu has reached Kathmandu on a 3 day visit to Nepal. He was received at the airport this afternnon by the Ambassador of India to Nepal Ranjit Rae.
During his stay at Kathmandu, Mr Prabhu will deliver key note address at the opening session of Nepal Infrastructure Summit 2017 organised by Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI). He will call on to President of Nepal Mrs Bidhya Devi Bhandari and Prime Minister Mr Pushpa Kamal Dahal (Prachanda).

ICGS AYUSH the Indian Coast Guard Ship installed at Kochi :
Indian Coast Guard Ship ICGS AYUSH has been commissioned at Kochi today by Vice Admiral AR Karwe, Flag Officer Commanding-in- Chief, Southern Naval Command.
ICGS AYUSH is the 20th and the last in the series of 20 Fast Patrol Vessels being built by Cochin Shipyard Ltd. The ship is fitted with state-of- the-art navigational and communication equipment including Integrated Bridge System and Machinery Control System.

Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police SP Vaid has launched a website to provide updates to the people about various policing related activities, advisories and National Highway status.
An official spokesman said the website www.suvidhajkpolice.in is an initiative by the Police Control Room (PCR) Jammu to provide updates to citizens about various police activities, advisories among others.

11th biennial edition Aero India- 2017 to wind up today in Bengaluru :
11th biennial edition of the International Aerospace and Defence exhibition- Aero India will conclude today at the Air Force Station, Yelahanka in Bengaluru. The five-day event was inaugurated by Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar on Monday.
AIR correspondent reports that Asia’s biennial premier air show Aero India 2017, has received overwhelming response from business delegates and general public. In Madhya Pradesh, 'Mil Banche’ programme was held in all the primary and middle government schools today. Trust vote at TN assembly won by chaired CM Palaniswami on 122 to 11 :
In Tamil Nadu, new chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswamy has won the trust vote, after 122 MLAs voted in his favour after hours of uproar in the Assembly. The vote was concluded after speaker P Dhanapal turned down the opposition DMK's request for a secret ballot in the floor test.
Eleven MLAs voted against Mr Palaniswamy. As one seat in the Assembly is vacant, the required number to win the vote was 117.

Hindu Marriage Bill passed by Pakistan Senate :
Pakistani Senate on Friday unanimously passed the Hindu Marriage Bill to regulate marriages of minority Hindus in the country. The bill which is due for the President's approval will become the first personal law for Pakistani Hindus. It will help Hindus to get a documentary proof of their marriage and also discourage forced conversions to Islam.

Southern & Central California hit by Powerful Pacific storm :
In the United States, a powerful Pacific storm blew into Southern and Central California with wind-driven heavy rains, triggering rescues, calls for evacuations, toppling trees and power lines and disrupting travel and outdoor events.
With the storm feeding on an atmospheric river of moisture stretching far out into the Pacific, precautionary evacuations of homes in some neighbourhoods were requested due to the potential for mudslides and debris flows.

HDFC Bank becomes 2nd most valued company by surpassing Reliance :
Financial services major HDFC Bank beat Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Industries on Friday to become the country's second-most valued firm, behind only Tata Consultancy Services. The bank reached a market capitalisation of 3.54 lakh crore, against Reliance's 3.49 lakh crore. This came after shares of HDFC Bank surged as much as 9% on Friday to hit a 52-week high.

E-commerce site Snapdeal to unite with Paytm's e-commerce site :
E-commerce platform Snapdeal is reportedly in talks to merge with Paytm's e-commerce website, called Paytm Mall. According to the report, the deal was initiated by the companies' common investor, China's Alibaba. Japan's SoftBank is also expected to be a major beneficiary of the possible merger, as it reported a loss of 2,300 crore mainly from its Indian investments including Snapdeal.

GSLV Mark III rocket engine tested successfully by ISRO :
Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has successfully ground tested its indigenously developed Cryogenic Upper Stage engine for GSLV Mark III at its Liquid Propulsion Complex at Mahendragiri in Tirunelveli district of Tamil Nadu yesterday.
ISRO Chairman AS Kiran Kumar said the full duration flight test of cryogenic upper stage for GSLV Mark III was successful. He said yesterday's test was last in the series before going for an actual rocket launch. The engine will be put into use in April.

AGREEMENTS:
209 MoU got signed between different companies in Momentum Jharkhand :
Today 209 MoU were signed between different companies at the closing day of the Two-day Global Investors Submit - branded as "Momentum Jharkhand " at the Khelgaon venue in Ranchi. Due to these MoUs, investment worth three lakhs, 39 thousands and 87 crores rupees will come in the state. Government sources told our Ranchi Correspondent that due to this investment by signing of MoUs, direct job for two lakhs nine thousands and 176 people will be created, while indirectly about four lakhs (392150) employment opportunities will be created.
The maximum number of MoU , out of total 209, were signed in mining sector -which is 121. Next was in the IT and e-governance, with 30 MoU while Urban development and housing was at third with 17 MoU.

Tenure period of SEBI Chairman-designate Ajay Tyagi's cut by 2 years :
The government on Friday cut the tenure of Ajay Tyagi, the next chief of markets regulator the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), by two years. Tyagi will now join as the SEBI Chairman for an initial period of three years, as against 5 years. This comes nearly a week after Tyagi was cleared to succeed incumbent UK Sinha.

Vodafone appoints Martin Pieters to work on proposal of Idea merger :
Vodafone has brought in Martin Pieters, former Managing Director and CEO of its Indian arm, to work on the proposed merger of Vodafone India with Idea Cellular, according to reports. Further, Vodafone Group's CEO Vittorio Colao is also likely to brief India business heads next week about the proposed merger. The merger is expected to create India's largest telecom firm.

Grandmaster Dronavalli & Padmini won World Women's Chess Championship :
Grandmaster Dronavalli Harika and International Master Padmini Rout created history by winning the tiebreaks of the second round of World Women's Chess Championship in Tehran yesterday.
Both the Indians have now advanced to the last-16 stage of the championship. In the next round, Harika will take on Sopiko Guramishvili of Georgia, while Padmini will meet another Chinese Tan Zhongyi.
Hockey players of Ladakhi to represent country in 2017 Ice Hockey Women Challenge cup of Asia tournament :
Ice Hockey players from remote areas of Ladakh region of the Jammu and Kashmir will represent the country in the forthcoming 2017 Ice Hockey Women Challenge cup of Asia in Bangkok, Thailand.
The 10-day long championship is beginning from March 6. It is the second time that Ladakhi women ice hockey players will represent the Indian team in an international event. They represented the country in 2016 in Taipei, Chinese in the same event. Deachen Dolker was declared the best player of the team while Noor Jahan was awarded the best goal tender.
Former MP Jambuwantrao Dhote  widely called 'Lion of Vidarbha' passes away :
Former MP from Nagpur Jambuwantrao Dhote, also known as the 'Lion of Vidarbha', passed away on Saturday following a heart attack. Elected to the Lok Sabha in 1972, the 78-year-old leader was a strong supporter of a separate state of Vidarbha. Dhote was also a two-time MLA from Yavatmal, starting his political career with Forward Bloc and later joining Congress.
