  • Disclosure - the process of giving information to people, especially information that was secret
  • Reform - a change that is intended to correct a situation that is wrong or unfair, or make a system work more effectively
  • Statistic - a group of numbers that represent facts or that describe a situation
  • Transparency -  an honest way of doing things that allows other people to know exactly what you are doing
  • Donor - a person who gives money or goods to an organization
  • Asset - something valuable belonging to a person or organization that can be used for the payment of debts
  • Anonymous - if someone is anonymous, no one knows their name
  • Startling - surprising, or very unusual
  • Provision -  a part of an agreement or law that deals with a particular problem
  • Sizeable - large
  • Legislature - the part of government that makes and changes laws
  • Far-reaching - affecting a lot of people or things in an important way
  • Significantly - by a large amount, or in a way that is easily noticeable
  • Exchequer - the government department that receives and gives out public money
  • Ambit - the range or limits of the influence of something
  • Regardless - without being affected or influenced by someone or something
  • Scrutiny - careful examination of someone or something
  • Implication - a possible effect or result
  • Regulatory - controlling
  • Authentic - real, not false or copied
  • Public domain - if something such as information is in the public domain, people in general know about it because it is not secret
  • Essential - necessary or needed
  • Ensuring - to make certain that something happens or is done
  • Democratic - based on the principle that all people are equal and should be able to share in making decisions

  • Brexit - an exit (act of leaving) by the United Kingdom from the European Union (short for "British exit")
  • Stipulated - to say exactly how something must be or must be done

  • Conservative - not usually liking or trusting change, especially sudden change
  • Speak your mind - to say honestly what you think, even if it upsets or offends someone
  • Prerogative - a right that a particular person or group has
  • Emphasised - to show that something is very important or worth giving attention to
  • Propriety - correct moral behaviour or actions
  • Consultation - a meeting to discuss something or to get advice
  • Duly - in the correct way or at the correct time; as expected
  • Campaign - a planned group of especially political, business, or military activities that are intended to achieve a particular aim
  • Alleged - claimed to be true, even though this has not been proved
  • Erosion - the gradual reduction or destruction of something important
  • Sovereignty - the power of a country to control its own government
  • Unmindful - not remembering, noticing, or being careful about something
  • Verdict - an official judgment
  • Non-binding - not legally necessary to obey or follow
  • Referendum - a vote in which all the people in a country or an area are asked to give their opinion about or decide an important political or social question
  • Appetite - the feeling of wanting or needing something
  • Reversal - the act of changing or making something change to its opposite
  • Evident - easily seen or understood
  • Amendment - a change or changes made to the words of a text
  • Imperative - extremely important or urgent
  • Kick-start - to make something improve or become more active after it has stopped or slowed down
  • Unpalatable - unpleasant to think about or accept
  • Uncertain - not knowing what to do or believe, or not able to decide about something
  • Landmark - a major event or achievement that marks an important stage in a process and makes progress possible
  • Explicit - clear and exact
  • Immigration - the process in which people enter a country in order to live there permanently
  • Jurisdiction - the right or power to make legal decisions
  • Redline - a limit beyond which someone's behaviour is no longer acceptable
  • Strive - to try very hard to do something or to make something happen, especially for a long time or against difficulties
  • Bargain - an agreement in which two people or groups each promise to do something
  • Mutual - of two or more people or groups
  • Emphasise -  to show that something is very important or worth giving attention to
