45th Statehood Day celebrated in Manipur, Tripura, and Meghalaya:
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday wished joy and prosperity for the people of Manipur, Tripura and Meghalaya on the occasion of their 45th Statehood Day. The three states attained statehood in 1972 under the North-Eastern Areas (Re-organisation) Act, 1971. While Meghalaya was a part of Assam before becoming a full-fledged state, Manipur and Tripura were Union Territories before 1972.

'INS Vikramaditya' India's largest warship to get its 1st ATM:
India's largest warship INS Vikramaditya is going to get an ATM onboard tomorrow, making it the 2nd Indian warship to have an ATM. The ATM will belong to India's largest lender State Bank of India (SBI). Further, it will be operated through a satellite link and the services will begin from Saturday evening.
Ordinance allowing the sport Jallikattu, got clearance from Centre:
The Law Ministry, Environment Ministry, and Culture Ministry on Friday gave their approval to an ordinance allowing the bull-taming sport, Jallikattu. This comes after protests involving thousands of people including sportspersons and actors erupted across Tamil Nadu against the Supreme Court-ordered ban on Jallikattu. The ordinance still needs to be approved by President Pranab Mukherjee.
Changes on rules for Rail Budget merger got approval from President Mukherjee:
President Pranab Mukherjee has approved changes in government rules to allow merger of the Rail Budget with the Union Budget 2017. The Union Cabinet had in September 2016, approved the scrapping of the 92-year old practice of presenting a separate Railway Budget and merged it with the Union Budget. The government is expected to present the budget on February 1.
Manipur’s 1st crowd-funded party is Irom Sharmila's PRJA party:
 Political activist Irom Sharmila's political party Peoples' Resurgence and Justice Alliance (PRJA), which was launched in October last year, is Manipur's first crowd-funded party. Explaining why the party adopted the approach for raising funds, party convener Erendro Leichonbam said, "We want this campaign to be powered by people. We are soliciting money from people to fight corruption in Manipur.

Corps Commander Conference starts today in Dehradun
The Corps Commander Conference of all the three armed forces organized in Indian Military Academy Dehradun is underway presently. Prime Minister Narender Modi arrived in Dehradun today morning to address this day-long annual conference.
Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar, Chief of Army Staff General Bipin Rawat, Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Birender Singh Dhanoa, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Sunil Lamba and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval besides other senior officials are also participating in the conference.

First executive order signed by Trump on 'Obamacare':
US President Donald Trump on Friday signed his first executive order, directing government agencies to scale back Obamacare. During his campaigns, Trump had promised to dismantle the health care law, which required Americans to have health insurance or pay a tax penalty. Notably, the Senate last week voted to draft a legislation repealing Barack Obama's Affordable Care Act or Obamacare.

NPCI's request to ICICI bank on unblocking Flipkart's PhonePe get rejected:
The ICICI Bank has refused National Payments Corporation of India's (NPCI) call to unblock Flipkart's digital wallet PhonePe from its platform. ICICI Bank said PhonePe allows users of only its own UPI handle to make payments via the app, and called it a “restrictive practice". As per UPI guidelines, customers of any bank can use any UPI-based app for payments.

Cooperative banks not authorised to accept deposits under PMGKY scheme: Govt
Government today clarified that Co-operative Banks are not authorised to accept deposits under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Deposit Scheme (PMGKDS). The scheme allows assessees to disclose previously unaccounted and undeclared income under its ambit.
The PMGKDS permits voluntary declarations of previously undisclosed income with an effective tax rate of 50 per cent and requires assessees to deposit a further 25 per cent of such wealth into a four-year interest-free deposit.

Amit Singhal former Google Search head joins Uber:
Uttar Pradesh-born former head of Google Search Amit Singhal has announced his appointment as Uber's Senior Vice President of Engineering. Singhal, who worked at Google for 15 years, shared a picture of himself with Uber CEO Travis Kalanick captioned, "Catching the next ride of my professional journey with @travisk at @Uber." He will also help grow the startup's self-driving program.

James Mattis appointed as US Secretary of Defence:
Retired General James Mattis was sworn in as US Secretary of Defense on Friday, making him the first cabinet member of President Donald Trump to be cleared to take office. The Senate's 98-1 vote confirmed his appointment, as Trump signed a waiver exempting Mattis from a law that blocked senior officers from leading the Pentagon within seven years of retirement.

All India Football Federation President, Praful Patel was appointed as a member of the FIFA Finance Committee (2017-2021) on Thursday. Patel was also appointed as the Senior Vice-President of Asian Football Confederation (AFC) in December 2016. The FIFA Finance Committee monitors the financial management and advises the FIFA Executive Committee on financial matters and asset management.
Miss Universe 2017 judge panel includes Former Miss Universe Sushmita Sen
Former Miss Universe Sushmita Sen has confirmed that she is on the judging panel of the upcoming 65th edition of the Miss Universe pageant. She was crowned Miss Universe in Manila, Philippines in 1994.
